Q: Can Casuals pvp well?

I played WoW for several months before, and  I never sticked to one character because I was too interested in trying out all the play styles of each class. The main class I liked the most, the Druid, had one viable talent tree. Now that feral is actually a great tree, I wanted to come back to WoW but there are some issues holding me back.

It seems to me that the end game of WoW is just instances and grinding for gear for hours and hors on end. I don't have time between work, school, and spending the time I want with my wife. Is it possible to get pvp gear in 2-3 hours a day, 3 - 4 days a week?

Any help anyone could give me is really appreciated, thanks.

    Honestly, at 60, no.

To compete pvp against guys with top end gear, you need top end gear, and that mean hitting the instances in a big way.

But you don't have to do that, just quest & pvp on the way up, stop your character at L59 and never bring him to 60. that way you can play a good competitive BG against guys with varying gear, and have allot of fun without wondering which of these guys has a full epic set.

The race doesn't always go to the swiftest, nor the battle to the strongest, but that's the way to bet.

If you want to achieve something in PvP of WoW, then you gotta play for 8h a day and if you want rank 14, then you gotta play about 12-14h.

If you want to compete with others as a casual player then that is hard. Because if you don't have a guild, who does high-end instances, then you have nothing else to do in WoW really.

Oddly, by some miracle after over a year and a few epic items I still manage to find the game fun.
    <end sarcasm>

It's all in how you choose to play the game. I wouldn't consider myself a hardcore gamer; spending maybe 15hrs per week in WoW. I prefer to go dragon hunting and pvp 'outdoors'.

With some patience and tatics, almost anyone can win at pvp. Gear helps, but trust me, it's not the end-all-be-all. If you're not aware of LOS and range, then you'll find yourself loosing quite a bit to more experienced pvp'ers.

As for the end game raids. I think too many people forget that most of the end game raids can be done in multiple days. I'm aware of a number of casual guilds that spend 2 hours twice a week doing MC for example. If you can't find a guild on your server that accomodates that type of raiding, try starting your own.

Getting gear is kind of fun, but there's certainly more in WoW then that.

here ia another way to look at it paladin - if you want pvp gear then go pvp in one of the BG for 2 to 3 hours and get your reputations up with each faction as best you can while getting your rank up as well.  Or just run the bigger instances with guildies if you can - IMO pick one or the other doing both with the limited time you have i dont see you acceling in either. i personaly think you would be better suited for pvp goodies. if you actually pvp for a good 3 hours a day, depending on the server you are on you should be able to rank up. i am on shattered hand and highest rank was 12 before i wore myself completely out doing it.

Thanks for the help so far. Are there guilds out there that pvp over running instances all the time? Also if I can find a good guild is it ok to run instances sometimes with the guild, then pvp the majority of the time? I'm not quite sure why you have to fucos on one of the other all the time, is it because your honor is ranked by amount you have per a week?

My highest character is lvl 54, and I have always done very well in pvp. I like to be a support class like paladin or druid and add to the damage but mainly keep my allies alive and strong.

yes there are guilds like that - i would check the your realm forum on worldofwarcraft.com first and see what you can find there. most guilds do both because they like fighting together (they know each other well and they know each persons strengths and weaknesses). the reason i say to focus on one or the other in your case is the time frame your on. there are alot of people that stay on WOW 6 - 8 - 10 hours or more a day bud. so they can go to the big instances and still pvp for hours too. yes you are competing against other players HK's each and every week - the lower ranks is easy to rank up but there arent any goodies to get there - its the higher ranks where you start getting your set armor pieces and trinkets etc. and thats where its tougher to rank up because every body is trying to rank up so they spend alot of time pvping. i like you the way you look at your pally - because they are great at buffs/debuffs and great healing abilities.

Yeah it's always possible.  However, you aren't going to beat those kids that sit there all day with purple epics and gold bought with mom & dad's money.  Expect to get killed a lot, but you will land kills, too.
