My thoughts on RF

Having never played the beta, and never reading too much about the game all I can say is ... Why?

Why is this a pay to play?

Why is there so little content for a game thats been out for a while in asia?

Why are there even "quests"

Why did I buy this game?

This game is just not worth it in my opinion, and I am usually the one who can find value in anything. The entire combat system reminds me of the original Diablo, while fun for a bit, gets very old very quickly. The graphics are just ok to me. It feels like Lineage 2 meets Diablo.

I have played for 6 hours and wish that I could return the game and just wasted that time playing snood.

Sry RF, you need more content to make it in this MMO business.

It is my firm opinion that RFO could have been a HUGE hit if it had no monthly fee. It still wouldn't be a wonderful game, but being able to play casually without feeling liek you've wasted money would make all the difference. Even the pre-30 crapfest would be better if I knew this isn't something I'm really paying for.

The game seems to have potential. You can tweak the controls and basically get your keyboard setup very western/ WoWish. As far as the leveling system you can power through straight to 30 if you want, but if you want to level lower level skills you can also do that and customize your charecter. I was a bit dismayed about the lack of NPC content myself but the game makes up for that in versatlity of play. I like that fact a warrior can learn how to cast force spells if they want and vise versa. It is a shame that there are no options for charecter customization in appearance. But, the fact that you can customize your skillset is something to applaud. Also the crafting environment is somewhat in depth and weapons can be customized with upgrades which is really cool.

There are alot of good features in this game and it take some getting used to as it is different from most MMOs. If you are looking for a pre-cut system that defines class roles and dosen't allow for any deviation this may not be for you. If you are looking for devolper created storylines and content this may not be what you are looking for. but, if you are looking for a more open ended system with a host of skills you can learn and a whole lot of player created fun, then this game can be very fun. Instead of having to rely on what the developers made, they give you a system with well balanced classes and carte blanche to play the game how you want to play it.

I can see the author's point of view on this post but this is a fun game and I am having more fun than with either City of Heroes or Lineage 2. It has some weaknesses, but this has the potential to be a great game.

/agree with Saftwear.   this game is a step backwards for MMOs ..not forward.

If you had took the time to read about the game, you would quickly understand what's this game all about.. it's about RvR and community.

There is a certain type of players we won't see in RF online. RF offers what I want and I am happy about that. The storyline is simple, it's a war and we are fighting it. You could say, it's a simple storyline but it actually gets more complicated then that later on.

Vanguard is still the game i'm looking forward the most but RF online provides more then WOW could offer me.. RF offers me a community and a fun game. EQ or WOW offered me quests and instances, it is not a bad thing... it's simply not something I wanted.

And where the hell did you find this information exactly? On the Korean and Chinese websites? The English RFO official site STILL has zero relevant info on the game, and the one "gameplay" movie is an outright lie.

I will admit the info on this game is actually hard to find and I can't denie that some people took a chance and banged into a wall because of that. I did a deep search to be honest... forums, fan sites, yes jap and korean sites... gamespot, dev interviews, many little vids, IGN and etc.

After combining all the details I could find, I was able to know exactly what the game offered but no.. it wasn't an easy find but heck, Before buying a product I always try to find as much info as I can.

I have not played in 2 days when i play i dont get the feeling of a scifi world . There is no point in quests it always the same you have to kill evary mob in the area you are in to lvl up lowest Mob to highest Mob lvl and you receive some stupid item for it. Do all this just for PvP and nothing else? If its that easy then i rather play WoW forget this .

There's a couple of English sites. One very good one is the site from the Phillippines which is all in English. So, there are English sources other than the official site.
