So, how is DAoC now in general? I played for a year quite a while ago. I quit shortly after ToA, had Real life concerns. I never went back, I went to SWG, then they blew the game up basically, then went to WoW and got utterly bored out of my skull. I've been eyeballing DAoC again and was interested in what some current players think.
Thanks in advance!

A lot has changed. Mostly pretty good in my view. Like you I quit shortly after ToA, because of ToA, but I am now back and loving it. Off the top of my head...
It's still well populated. Classic servers remove ToA content, buffbots the level command and are popular to those that didn't care for ToA and bots, (conc) buffing can only be done in group. ToA encounters have been toned down on older servers so they are gaining players also. Graphics are *greatly* improved with Catacombs and Darkness Rising. Catacombs removed much of the grind, if you don't like to grind. Quests are excellent, tons of new ones, most are great fun. Lots of new areas added with Catacombs, an underground system that links all the dungeons. Instanced dungeons added to Catacombs areas and two also in all old world dungeons. Mobs in the new instanced dungeons drop Aurulite, a bit like DF seals insomuch you can buy excellent equipment with it in the new Catacombs main area of each realm. Epic dungeons added. New battlegrounds added so you can BG RvR from level one. A lot more solo friendly, if you like to solo. Travel made faster and easier.
Darkness Rising introduced champion levels for characters at fifty to gain further powers and champion weapons. New epic armour. Personal mounts, available from level thirty five, have been added which can be armoured, decorated fully with barding in guild colours and add inventory slots. Epic mounts are very cool. Levelling can be done rapidly via task dungeons if you are a RvR player and don't much care for PvE and just want to get into the frontiers. Darkness Falls has been totally revamped. Quite a few new classes added since you last played. Many RvR changes. Tanks recently revamped. More RvR gains for support classes.
Err, tons of stuff really, more than I can remember after a nights play, need sleep badly. If you liked DAoC before then I sincerely doubt you'd be disapointed with the changes and the state of the game now. Mythic have done a really good job with the last two expansions IMO. There is a free fourteen day trial so you can give it a whirl for no outlay, so nothing to lose. Check out the FAQ stickied here and also the one on how to add the new graphics to the trial. No doubt others will fill in the stuff I've missed out, or got wrong.

I also left DAOC long ago for various reasons. I came back last November after NGE replaced SWG...
I am loving DAOC. Personally I prefer the Classic servers and I play on Gareth. I also play on the older servers on Iseult and Igraine. TOA isn't bad now but I still prefer Classic mostly for the ruleset but also because I just don't care for TOA when all is said and done. But if TOA was why you left it's not near as bad as what it was before.
Previous poster summed up the new additions nicely. I have to say that DAOC is easily the best MMO on the market right now in my opinion.

Still in: A couple Betas
Great Posts, thanks a ton for the into and your impressions.
Since I'm behind a couple expansions, can I pick up the Epic edition and add those to my reactivated account?
Again, thank you for the info.
Yup, you can find it pretty cheap at Walmart and a couple other places, prolly your cheapest way of adding Catacombs and DR to an existing account.

Excellent! Thanks for the info.
Woohoo!
Think I'll go grab it this weekend.
