they could have limited the resistances in armor and power of buffs by gating the important stats on the resources they required. This could have been easily done and would have limited the armor and buffs. Alternatively you could have kept your 90% resists on the armor and just majorily reduced the buffs that way the HAM values of the armor would have kicked in and regardless if you could resist 90% of damage you would not last long because of the HAM costs of the armor.
Any way that was off topic and a reply to the above. I would like to see a new star wars mmo that basically is a complete MMO, by that i mean it has balanced PVP, PVE, its has an excellant social aspect to the game, it does not lie on a loot based economy, they spend time on making a complex crafting system which helps people interact with everyone from the crafters to the guys who gather resources. People have the freedom to choose what ever profession they want when they want, they can customise their characters when they want how they want. It has proper player housing and excellant customer support.

Give back jedis that unlock really randomly (so it could happen to a casual player just as much as to a hardcore one) and make them permadeath again but really strong.
If jedis team up anyway (invincible if they would be like 10) devs could control al obi-wan or darth vader figure to eliminate them...
I want to play the in time again where we were doing corvettes and dwb's...
I would like to see a Star Wars MMO set either in the Old Republic or in the aftermath of Yuuzhan Vong invasion. You could set the galaxy up in its more canon form of Core and Rim planets. This would allow the game to have both the urban/ business setting that many loved from Galaxies, being that the Core systems would be heavely poupluated and already have many cites and shops that the players who wanted to be entertainers or shop owners would be able to buy or rent. A well organized system of buying and selling for crafters to ply there trade. and many things that would, I assume draw people to the Core systems (for instance availiablity of rare items or better prices for things) it would be well policed for those who didnt wish to engage in combat but wanted to play there own way.
In the Rim sectors of space you would have the open lands to build cities. You would need scouts and rangers and all sorts of professions that Galaxies veterans enjoyed. A true introduction of Smuggling into the game, perhaps a taxation system as well as banned products to have smugglers be the soultion to those issues. Or even a system of shiping from system to system at a high prices and the threat of Pirates destroying your shipment. A smuggler with a proven record of out running the powers that be and any riff raff might just be worth the risk. Of course in the rim you would be able to build player cities and hunt exotic creatures. Perhaps even build upon the Mayor system and eventually have the planet join the Galaxy wide goverment.
I would allow Jedi, but make it so they had to go to a place to learn the Jedi arts (Like the temple or academy) until acheiving a certain level of power and skill. Then they would be anchored to a heiarchy that to remain "Jedi" they would need to pay at least some attention to. They of course could leave the order and be lead or even choose the dark side but I would have at least some skill sets be different so they would have to learn or relearn some powers. Having fallen to the dark side if they attacked a jedi and failed to kill him/her than the Jedi would be able to inform the order of the renegade and take action against such a threat. As well as normal boutnies that a Dark Jedi might earn in the course of being up to no good.
I know there are numerous balance issues that would need to be addressed. As well as decay and other things that the original dealt with. These are just some of the off the top of my head thoughts. I know they are very general ideas some of them might not work or be possible but I would enjoy a Star Wars MMO that attempted them.
