btw this is going to be a long one...
So i decided to give star wars galaxies a try and see what this whole fuss is about. I was playing it for a while and i grouped up with this one fellow and we did some fun quests. We even left the starting starship together. once i got to tatooine i was overwhelmed. the place was awesome. i heard people gather rebels together to attack the imperial star ships and such. All i saw all sorts of races. So im walking along finding some parts for my own speeder, and some guy sends me a pm. he invited me to a guild. and i figure its a good idea to join and meet people. this guy was role playing too which just made the game ALL the more fun to play. he said it was a guild for jedi. he said he would help train me in the ways of the jedi and be my master. he told me how he had one as well. he said that if i became trusted among the guild that would appoint me to the counsel. They even had thier own jedi counsel! it was just so cool. he told me to meet him at a place and he would be me some item to start me off. but i had to go unfortunately.
To tell you the truth the combat was really fun. i played SWG for a little bit but the game just couldnt hold my intrest. i thought the theme was great. become a star wars adventurer and relive all the experiences in the movies. But the combat in the CU* is what drove me away. i thought it was a bore. all you did was just click on something just stand there and wait for your character to finish shooting and killing the thing. all i did was click and watch. Then again i didnt get to too high of a lvl so i cant really say the higher lvl combat wasnt good cuz i wouldnt know. Granted i understand how all of you who had their characters deleted are really p***ed. and i would be too. but have you even tried playing the NGE? i dont think its half bad. but since you were use to the old combat you would just want it to stay that way.
now my third point to this post.. there comes a time in every mans life when he has to make a desicion. and that is imperial or rebel. im playing on ahazi and i kind of want to be part of the rebelion uprising. (hopefully the jeffry-jeff mcjeff guy is still playing) but i have always wanted to be on the imperial so i could meet darth vadar and get my own tie fighter. can you guys help me out with this

It's not half bad, but I personally don't find it good either, primarily because it's not a finished change but important gameplay aspects are still being added (like heavy weapons, that did exist pre-NGE and then after NGE we had to wait a few months for them to be re-implemented).
But the most important thing you need to understand is that this is no longer the game I was subscribing to. It's a completely different game. If you like it and you enjoy yourself, by all means, good for you for finding a game you enjoy. But it no longer has the qualities I found enjoyable in its previous stage before NGE, it's just a different game for players with a different taste.
Currently playing:
* City of Heroes: Deggial, Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster. Server: Defiant.
* City of Villains: Snakeroot, Plant/Thorns Dominator. Server: Defiant.
It simply does NOT matter if the NGE is good or bad. Personally, most of my friends and I could care less. The real issue is the changes themselves that basically threw out 2.5 years worth of work on the players' behalf.
Just wait and see, soon enough you'll be back on here posting angrily that SOE tossed out your hard work too. I can guarantee you another revamp is on the way or possibly a rollback. SOE wont sustain the game in its current state.
Man the game is over run with children it seems.
The game is going to change again...you'll see.
Being with it since Beta I laugh at jedi council PAs..... sheesh.
Sorry Thunder, no can do.
Nothing personal but as an ex-vet of this game, there's no way I or anyone who left because of the new so-called version help to endorse SWG. By helping out thats exactly what I'd be doing and I can't endorse this game, ever.
Glad you find a game to enjoy, let's hope you can still enjoy it a few months from now.
However I must wonder... Why did you title your post like that? I almost passed it over because I thought "this is just another fanboi on another troll post"! Your post sounds like a genuenly good experience with this game, yet the title makes me believe that you're just trying to "rub it in" and start a flame fest.
Just some constructive criticism for the next time.
SOE knows what you like... You don't!
And don't forget... I am forcing you to read this!
And the game has changed how? Not a flame. I hated the CU as well but just had to point out the irony in your statement.
You should submit another post about 1-2 months after reaching lvl 90. I am curious what your impression will be then. I quit during the CU as well and came back to check out the NGE.
I gave the NGE a honest chance for about a month and couldnt find anything about it I liked. The animations were laughable, which is great if you're a huge Benny Hill fan. I found the new UI to be clumsy and dificult to control. Using specialties is too bulky having to press number key+mouse click. Even then the specials didnt work for me about 75% of the time. The specials that did work had no animations about 50% of the time.
NPCs werent coded correctly for the new FPS style of gameplay. I couldnt lock onto one NPC yet they could lock onto me, thereby making it so I couldnt dodge out of line of fire (which is an important tactic in FPS imo). NPCs could fire through buildings and mountains while I couldnt.
There is still no high end content in the game. There is still no focus on the GCW which was the reasoning for the timeline SOE chose. The new PvP system they plan to implement is still BH-based which will lead to taking even more focus off the GCW.
Anyway, this is a brief analysis of my first impression after coming back.
