Free Servers : Illegal?

Are free servers illegal? For instance an Everquest Server ran by total geekers? I was wondering this because i have some mogs that i can afford to play and wondering if i could play them on free servers to at least get some money out of them. :) thanks

Monthly payments are for the servers maintanence right?

I would also like to ask if they have free servers for DAOC, (i know eq does) FFXI, Planetside, Anarchy Online

I ask about those because those are the games i have purchased, sorry if i offend anyone by asking this

    You would have to do some research on each MMOG to find out if they allow you to do such a thing. Most will not. EQ, for example, has a highly aggressive stance against such a thing...they would sue you or worse if you attempted to run one.

    Pay or not, unless the game is being operated by an enetity that is licensed to do so, its illegal.
    (Its illegal unless the group running the server has permission from whoever owns the rights to the game)

    Yep illegal right there. basically only do it if the game gives u the option to do so, don't go editing programs n stuff.

    hehe. geekers is another term for tweakers, tweaking geeking. You mean geeks right?
