Wow, it seems that within the last quarter to half year mmorpg.com has had many new members and a loss of the old ones. I sort of miss seeing people you knew around mmorpg.com with whom you could stir up old arguments and names you might recognize. This may not be a bad thing and in fact.. it may be something to commend the old members on; for growing of their gaming phase and reaching that point of maturity. That and an influx in new members is always good. But it still bothers me.

What's the deal? What makes you think not wanting to play games anymore makes you mature? Are you one of those people who think once you get to a certain age that you should, "Grow Up" and stop playing kids games?
Some peoples move on, progress, ascend, become better individuals.
Others, like me, stick!
Honestly, they may have find a MMO and be playing and happy...or lost any hope in the MMOs and revert to non-MMOs, can't say I blame them if they read Brad and experience DDO at the same time, two very good reason to lose any hope in the genre, yet very distincts reasons which share not much in comon. They may also have their feeling bruised over something.
The staff and evolves as well. Maybe they move to the WAR forums and leave this place alone.
But in the end it change nada, you are stuck with the folks who are here!

I have no idea how well known I am but at least I know I've been around a while!
And as for people leaving because they've matured "out of gaming" I can tell you that won't be me. I've been infactuated with the idea of MMORPGs and persistent worlds since Gemstone III and I doubt that it is a fascination that will ever die down. Now I have cut back on the amount of gaming I play. To be honest, I spend almost as much time commenting on and researching the genre as actual play time. What better place than www.mmorpg.com to alleviate these desires? I can think of none and doubt a future competitor will arise to take me away. So you will see (regardless of popularity) for quite some time.

I myself have not 'matured' beyond mmorpgs, I've just played so many that I'm waiting for something to break the mold. Alot of the games these days appear no different to me than the original Everquest. Sure, they have new graphics and the play mechanics have been severely enhanced, but it still feels the same.
I'll probably continue to lapse in and out of conciousness on the boards until a mmorpg successfully catches my attention.
Im still here infact I just posted. I find myself logging in and visiting less and less due to all the people posting stuff I dont like Ha if that justifys my reason any.

Funny, most days me logging in is the first thing that I do at work...Shhhhh.
I "lurked" for a little bit before becoming a member and as you can see I am relatively new. What originally drew me in to become a member was the off-topic posts. There just always seemed to be something to comment on and overall there seemed to be more intelligent discussions and most people seemed to have a sharper sense of humor and be more well rounded overall.
Here lately though I have been proven wrong more and more as it seems there is over flow from the Pub. Case in point, how many times have you seen someones response that basically says, "Why are you posting that here, this is a sight for mmorpg's?"
Anyways I am new and I plan on staying around for a long while...btw way I will bring nacho's as my snack

these forums are like your favorite tv series. The first couple seasons are the best. Then before you know it half of the cast has been replaced and the show totally changes.
