latest issue of PC gamer

Has someone already posted this?

Got the latest edition of PC gamer in the mail last night. Has a lengthy article on warhammer online. Mentioned a lot of features I hadn't read about anywhere else:

Realm vs. Realm PvP a central feature, engae in PvP as soon as you start

Two sides: orcs, dark elves, and chaos humans vs. Empire humans, high elves, and dwarves.

If your side does well enough in RvR, you can actually conquer and loot an opposing sides capitol city.

No levels. Instead your character will gain visual indicaters of how butch they are as they progress. For example orcs will get larger and more muscly, dwarves will get longer beards (!?!).

Visual style reminiscent of WoW. However, this is because Warcraft ripped off Warhammer (the 25 year old minatures based wargame from Games Workshop) like mad originally, and so in being true to the art style of the minatures game Mythic ended up with something that looks a lot like WoW.

I hope Mythic pulls it off, and I definitly plan to keep tabs on this one.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

More people need to acknowledge this.

It's somewhat weird how Mythic is creating this Realm vs. Realm system. As of the PC Gamer, like Yeebo said, it will be two realms competing against each other, but that’s in the broad sense. When you start out the game, though, your main focus is against the race that is the respective enemy to your race with accordance to the back-story (Dwarves Vs. Orcs, Chaos vs. Empire(Humans), and High Elves vs. Dark Elves).

As for the (!?!) with the Dwarven beards, in a lot of different games a Dwarf's beard represents how much of a veteran that certain Dwarf is.

Check out here for more info.

I fully realize that in many fictional dwarven societies the size of a dwarfs beard is a status symbol. For example one of the worst things you can do to a dwarf is shave his (or her is some fiction) beard in many settings.

The (!?!) was because I personally don't find "look at the size of that dwarf's beard!" as intimidating as "look at the size of that orc!" However, Mythic has some great art guys, and I'm sure that high level dwarves will look just as intimidating as high level orcs in the end ::::36::

I see what you mean by that, but I'm sure they will be shown with strength too. Probably going from a stocky dwarf, to a muscular, more tuned dwarf ( see the PC Gamer front cover ).

Indeed quite a few details in the issue.  I'm picking up another copy for the history books.

I'm gonna have to pick up that issue. Personally I think, and hope, that WAR is going to be the WoW killer. It might not get as many subscribers, just b/c Mythic and Warhammer combined don't have quite the following of Bliizzard, but it will most definately be the beter game.

I played DAoC for a long time and after my first year of EQ, I have the most fond memories of. The Warhammer universe is a great setting for Mythic's flavor of RvR PvP. I am VERY excited for this game and only hope the dev cycle on it isn't as long as it's looking like it's going to be.

I hope you're right, although I doubt it'll be a WoW killer, I truly hope it is a top competetor.
