Found this online, thought it was interesting

A census bureau group have recently made a series shocking discoveries about the players of the popular mmorpg (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) World of Warcraft or WoW. After 1000 players were interviewed via telephone conversation this is what they found. (Typically these types of surveys are accurate within 3% plus or minus)

Age groups

12-15 (65%) 16-21 (15%) 22 + (7.5%) declined to say (12.5%)

Living Quarters

With parents (97.5%) Apartment (.5%) Own Home (.25%) declined to say (1.75%)

Marital Status

Married (0%) Have Girlfriend (7%) Playing the field (3%) declined to say (90%)

Beverage of Choice

Mountain Dew (45%) Capri Sun (50%) Alcohol (5%) declined to say (0%)

Sums up a few of my issues with this game too!

Um, where did you get this? how was this "poll" even conducted? who conducted it?

I mean, if I'm 25 or w/e (I'm not) I don't think I would agree to answer some guy calling me about WoW. And where was this conducted? A small town? New York City? You didn't even post a link or your source man. This data seems a bit scewed.

.....yeah and its obviously a joke or a WOW hater. First off 0% married? That right there is a dead give away the whole census was trash or a joke. And 7% had a girlfriend...what they didnt ask if they had a boyfriend? Plus  my whole friggin guild is  mid 20's or above.

...anyway , interesting troll post.

Funny this was brought up. But on the news this morning, a survey showed that women played games more online than men

actually i found it on a forun @ oh gaming, and i though it was funny, i use the capri sun and mountain dew thing frequently.  and as soon as i get out of work i have every intention on going back to my "chimp wars",

From the survey data, the average age of the WoW player is 28.3 (SD = 8.4). 84% of players are male. 16% are female. Female players are significantly older (M = 32.5, SD = 10.0) than male players (M = 28.0, SD = 8.4). On average, they spend 22.7 (SD = 14.1) hours per week playing WoW. There are no gender differences in hours played per week.

So they called 1000 people? How did they get their phone numbers? Did they call people all around the world? Did they call during the day when people are at work or at night?

Polls are incredibly unreliable especially when they're under 1500 participants.

ok i never heard of this and dont know how true this is but i beleive it for one reason..

the percentage of kids playing! ffs man i hate playing mmo's with kids they ruin it.. i think all kids should stick to console and RPG's not MMORPG's then when there at age (at least 15.. at least!!!!) then

im playing with 9 year olds who dont know how to understand me let alone play the game and its sickening!

 It isnt true. No matter how many kids are playing....which are alot....there happens to be alot of people to begin with. Unfortunately the more annoying ones stand out. But regardless , the population is not 85% under 21. That is just ludicrous to even think. It only takes a little common sense to figure this post is untrue or the so called census is false.

Well if that poll is true it helps in understanding the IQ level of the community as a whole with all those little kids playing, however if the poll is wrong, then based on what the community is like and what we see in the game, there are a huge amount of really stupid adults around.
