OK where to start

in EVE Online
I am new to the game. That said, can someone link a good starting reference. For instance, what exactly do the "careers" do for me? and what does each trait (intelligence, etc) do for me? Sorry such newbie questions, but I want to understand as best I can so I can make the best of it. Cheers, and thanks in advance.

    nah...everyone is a little overwhelmed when they start this game, there is a lot to take in.
