FIrst of all remove all expectations of PvP, then make your decision.  PvP will never work with everquest clones.

I recently tried an apple and orange and a banana. I found out that I dont care much for oranges and bananas are best with peanut butter, so I ate the apple.

...Yeah, the PvP in DAoC is awful...

Out of the three games listed, in the least DAoC's pvp has a smidgen more meaning in RvR. Otherwise, pvp in games like WoW and EQ2 are mere 'sporting events'.

Yep i liked EQ2,it has taken more strides to make gameplay fair than any game out there.I have never seen PVP  serve any purpose in a game yet,[you kill them, they kill you...who cares][good for FPS not in MMO]but thats another topic anyhow.

The other 2 games are alright as well, but eq2 just trys to fix problems that most mmo games have and thats what i liked about it.A big one is there mentoring system that really is the FIRST big step any game has shown to make partying better.Partying is the worst timesink in all the MMO's right now.Not one game till eq2 has shown an effort to fix it.I might add ,that it is possible to solo as well if there are no players to party with.

The only thing that bummed me out about EQ2 was the empty servers.Amazing how marketing hype garnered WOW all the player base.Seems the majority of players are looking for that NEW game to set there niche in,so any marketing hype on a new game, gathers a huge following.Although i don't play EQ2 anymore,i believe it is the best game out there, albeit needs improving in its instanced zones[they look bland/horrible/no mapping effort].EQ2 quests easily are 5x better than any game out there. You could spend every day in the game just questing and still never run out[quality as well as quantity].Crafting is also quite good,as with a little effort you can get anything you need to make the best stuff. No need to rely on a broken economy from RMT's.Your own apartment/pets/furnishings ride horses/travel by wyvern[i think thats what they were]tons of stuff to keep you occupied.

Free trial, yep its got that too.:D

Where are this empty servers i see people talk about?

I play nagafen and oasis and nothing empty at all .And oasis is even one of the lower populated servers.

Fact is if you start EQ2 afresh expect the lower level areas to be totally empty(apart from the new pvp servers which are only a week old) as this game uses zones. So when you have over 80% of the population at level 50+ on the older server  do not expect them to be sitting in lower area zones.
