Do you have to repeat the same quest multiple times?

Another thing I have heard from the posts that makes me leary of the game is that you have to do the same quest multiple times, in fact I have heard some people say that you repeat the same quests over and over again in a rinse-and-repeat fashion.  Is there actually enough diversity in the questing system to keep the game fresh or are you really repeating everything?  If so, how many times do you have to repeat the same quest?

Also, is there a variety to the things you are fighting, or are you after the same zombies over and over again?

There's about 135 quests in the game at launch.

I think you can get to lv 10 (max lv) by only repeating most quests a few times each. However, the catch is that since this is a group based game, even if you have already done a quest, others in your group may not, so you end up repeating the good ones (big xp) because of grouping.

They have increased the XP gains during the pre-launch, so you will need to understand that anyone that is playing now or in beta (after alpha ended), is seeing an XP increase. Once the game launches, the XP rewards will go back to how they were in alpha. When that happens, then yes, you will be repeating the dungeons quite a few times.

Most of the low level stuff are kobolds, then some undead and trolls as you reach mid-level. The low level (1-3) is pretty much all kobolds with some insects (spiders), but its not too bad. In fact, its probably better that there's not a real big diverse choice of beasts, because of the special bane properties of weapons and Favored Enemy feats.

Also, one of the dissapointed things for me is that there are no differences in the quest based on your character. Every character you make will repeat the same dungeons as your previous characters.

Each dungeon has 3 difficulty ratings, you must complete the quest on Easy before you can go on to hard... and so on. The dungeons are a lot harder on higher difficulty settings but the chests have much thicker loot.

I don't know if you could get to level 10 without repeating anything. I've repeated a few like WaterWorks 1-2 a number of times just to help another player get through 'em. I'm not quite level 5 and haven't seen a lot of the content yet.

Pretty much everything in your monster manual is in the game... kobolds, trogdolytes, ogres, puddings and oozes, trolls, spiders, wolves, skeletons, zombies. In my opinion, there's a lot of varience.

I am really interested to see how many new quests are added after the first patch which should be in early April.    This will be  a really good sign of how much people will have to repeat.   To the OP's question, as it stands now, you cannot hit max lvl without repeating some quests.    But it really depends on your playstyle more then anything.    If you prefer to lvl and and play for lots of hours in a week then DDO might be a little repetitive to you.   If you are a more casual gamer (less then 20 gaming hours in a week)   Then the current content in game should hold you over for around 2 to 3 months.    My personal feeling on repeating quests is its not that bad in DDO but their ability to make quality monthly content to satisify players that are a little more hardcore then me.   Luckily in DDO there is enough variety that you can repeat the quests that you really enjoy and avoid the ones that you don't like.
