Is this game worth buying?

I am totally new to the MMORPG realm and I was wondering if this game is worth buying?

    Short answer: yes.

But for you, right now I'd recommend you wait 3 months at least. Try a MMOG that has gotten its feet established and is past its release window successfully. Especially one that has at least one expansion out,as it will be stable and have plenty of information available at fansites, if you want it.

It would help for you to explain what you think you want to try in MMOG to recommend a good game, btw. What kinds of games do you enjoy right now? What's your favorite RPG and gaming experiences?

Personally, I am torn to say either yes or no.  I would suggest before buying the game, you buy the BOOK.

Then read up on it, and see it if is for you.

When I started reading it.  It started reminding me alittle of what Ultima Online "used" to be, and a bit of what Ever Quest was in their earlier days.

I've played Dark Ages of Camelot myself for 2 yrs now, and before that Ultima Online for 3 yrs.

Needless to say, when you see my license plate that says MMORPG, you know I take a game seriously, as does my husband.

But since I can own a house [and I had 3 in UO in Trammel], and we have 2 in DAoC, I wasn't looking for a game that dealed with housing.

I am looking for a game that is more continuous interaction like we enjoy in Caledonia if we want.  [Mind you, you get to one point where your realm points are too high and they don't allow you to return. *chuckles*  Otherwise we would stay in there all the time.]

I don't mind the crafting, and I don't mind helping others attain new skills or knowledge.  I like what DAoC offers, with the Realm vs Realm.  But I wondered since people are cloning alot of UO, EQ, and the like, do they have something with alittle different twist to it that's different from what we're playing now.

So I watch the boards, but I think it gets down to..buy the BOOK first on the game before investing that type of money for an Online game.

Good luck on what you decide.

I have a friend who told me that she tried Horizons, she liked the concept, but what she didn't like was that her server lagged just too much while playing it.

I personally say again, read the book, talk to people who play the game.  And do some REALLY hard thinking on it before playing this or any game.

I was also told you needed to have Win2000 to play it, but my friend said she played it with Win98.  So go figure.

    That's my 2 cents worth.

Also fine on XP Pro, and have heard rumors on various forums that someone got it to run in Linux, dunno how true it is tho.
