I think the developers have a great idea of what they want this game to be and i really like it. but im kinda questioning if it will be as good as everyone says its going to be. I really hope it is, i do, because im looking forward to this game to, but i just have this feeling its not going to live up the all the expectations it has right now..

I've got pretty high hopes for this game. Of course it will hae his problems, and it definitely won't be perfect. But, I do expect it to be quite enjoyable and one of the better MMOs of its generation.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up to much. Last time I did that they release horizons.
i Wasnt to hopefull at first, as with all new games from "small gaming studios a certain dgree of caution is adviced. though with the release of the last trailer as well as the open mindednes of the devs on their forums im rather cionfident it will make its way to the market in nice shape. The previews this far also seem to indicate it will play out nicely. I just hope the lore driven part doesnt get forgotten in the craze for the innovative combat system.
Dont get me wrong i like the combat system but for me the main point must be to put rpg back in mmorpg. Hopefully spellborn can achieve that as well as offering intersting combat and pvp.
well with spellborn, unlike any other mmorpg, ive found they havn't really let all the infomation out, they very slowly give you bits of infomation just enough to make a tiny bit of sence, but never enough to get the hole picture...
such as people have said "i wont play a game that i have to wear the same armor for all the time form start to end" , well to be honest nothing been really said about it, all that has been comented is that , your gear/armor will not help you with pvp, and two you can pick how you want to look from the start of the game... nothing was said about you had ot stay like that for the whole of the tiem you play, so im very speclative about what they really are planning
personaly i think this game deserver alot more of a hype than people give it, but then again the net is now full of kids who just want everything given to them and want the game made as easy as possible....
as i said id give this game a 8 on the hype-meter, id does deserve it, and if things progress they way its going , i think everyone is going to be shocked by just how good the game will be
*and for those who read this thinknig you know everything , get out of your shell and read all the scrolls of the offical site, take your time to jump on the irc server and ask about the game, or visit there wiki, there is alot of infomation around you just goto find it , or to quote the game "what is hidden, must be found..."*
I believe that this game will be amazing because the lead producer is a guy who has been greeted with games for a such a long time and form a large variety of all different games and is now finnally making one of his own. NOW i know most gamer designer get lazy or sometimes try to test somethign funny and mes sup and just go on with it but im hoping that this dont happen.
Im also worried about the quality because this isnt sucha big company and according to their news page they just RECENTLY moved into a new buildign and established themselves unlike big companies like blizzard and turbine. But I hope this game gets some crazy sponsership and rocks!
The team has been growing over the last years and it became obvious that the space was not enough for a team of our size anymore. The team and company has been established long before.
You are right, we don't have the size of the companies you named, but we are not to small either. Right now, we have around 50 people working on TCoS. All in all, I really don't think there is a reason to worry. We are all set and ready for the upcoming months. Good things are going on here every day. If you haven't, make sure to check our latest newsletter - we have some really juicy stuff in there.

AC2, CoH, EQ2, WoW, Horizons
Games that I really wished could have delivered (lucklily I learned my lesson with the other 5 games)
DDO, RFO
Games that might not suck, but at least 4/5 if not all will
Spellborn, PotBS, G&H, WAR, Vanguard
Yea, I've pretty much given up all hope on MMOs.
I think it will.
Lot of innovative ideas that sound interesting.
No downside that I can see yet.
Graphics look very good and User Interface is awesome.
"We feel gold selling and websites that promote it damage games like Vanguard and will do everything possible to combat it."

yeah they do seem to have some good ideas, and I'm glad some of the MMOs in development are going away from the more classic models.
This game has a lot of Lore, nothing to worry about that people. Graphics are incredible.....thats all I can say.
The combat system is real time, and very different from most MMORPGs, but still is a great idea. I still need to see it in full function, but I already like it.
I still am not sure about what is planned for the role playing part of the game. There will be tonns of lore, but how much freedom the players get exactly, I am uncertain.
Open PvP is a mega primary key to roleplaying in games, if it has the right procedures to discourage too much ganking and chaos.
To be honest I don't think this game will be aimed at role players but at the players who wish to have a proper MMORPG, similar to WoW, EQ, but one which makes sense, has quality, and won't have senseless systems or features. This game has taken no ideas from WoW or EQ and is very unique, so never say its just another Fantasy game, because they don't even include high fantasy races and the such. All they have included which practically all other games have included is humans. Thats the only race that they included which is in practically every other mmorpg.
I don't know if the game will actually be officially open PvP, but still will be a great game anyway. Hope you all enjoy it. See you in beta!
Have to put something up!
I got my expections high for this game, great lore, great music (Award-winner Jesper Kyd, famous Dutch Band Within Temptation), nice graphics, unique style etc.
I hope it'll be as great as it looks now when it's released but I got a good feeling about that.
who knew
Lots of people said that it might not be as good as it seems because it's a small company. In my opinion that might make it better. They might not have the same resources or skill, but (unlike the big companies) they may not be in it all for the money. I know that if I was developing a game I would do it because I would want to do it, and because of that I would give it my all just to see it in action and give myself a pat on the back.
All the big companies make are repeats of the same game with some updates. This is a new, original game made by a small group of people that are probably going to work as hard as they can on it to show themselves that they can. The big companies usually don't care about exceeding people's expectations because they know as long as the game is decent they'll make money. I have high hopes for this game and I really think it will hit every one of our expectations.
The art direction really draws me in. The fact that they are using an actual engine tells me that they have at least nominal funding. The Dev list doesn't have any "Big Names" that would make me feel more comfortable, but they do seem to be a reasonably qualified bunch.
The fact that they are a smaller house is actually intriguing. A bigger, more reknowned developer wouldn't have the ability to play it fast and loose. Any real innovation in MMORPGs is, from here on out, will most likely be innitiated by the smaller fish in the ocean.
Server stability remains to be seen. Thats a huge issue with a smaller team.
So overall? Sceptical of course but I like what I see. I look forward to some sort of beta/free play to test the waters. With little track record I would have to wait for the official reviews to start flying o'er the net before I laid down my cash unless I could play it first.
...Pika
IMO this game will not only succeed it will kick the butt of many mainstream games and cause the industry to wake up.
(,,,)=^__^=(,,,)
Yeah my mistake...there are the Daevi....I don't know why I mentioned Humans only...
Anyway, please note, officially stated there won't be any differences between the Humans and Daivi....no stat differences, just the lore part. There might also be quests which are specifically for either race. Anyway, I am not really sure about that.
Lol, its amazing how much lore they are generating for this game....so incredible!
Have to put something up!
I truly hope that it will succeed, though I do fear that with the number of mmorpgs coming out and the relatively unknown company it's coming from, that it will not get the user base it deserves. The only reason I found out about it at all was because I was sick to death of WoW for the second time and started hunting new games. I found this site and checked out everything that was supposed to be released in the next year. Since then (a couple of months ago), I have pretty much become obsessed with TCoS and the wait is killing me. Nothing else I've seen coming out looks like it is doing anything new that is also of interest to me. The problem is that I was very motivated and sought it out. Most people will be likely to buy and play something that's getting a ton of advertising and shows up in your local Walmart. Maybe that is the plan for this game by release, but I haven't heard anything that would lead me to believe that. I also know no one irl, even my biggest game freak friends, who had heard of it before I told them about it.
Turbine was a very small company once too, but they got into this very early in mmorpg game. I remember when AC came out and it was almost like a family. The devs were accessible...heck, I went out drinking with them one night when they came to our town...and were really trying to do the right thing and get good answers to people. That game had its problems, but given how new these types of games were, it was a very good effort and an enjoyable game for a few years. I honestly don't know if that can be said now or not about Turbine because I didn't dig AC2, got burnt out on AC, and D&D held no appeal for me because of the lack of solo content. I may try LoTR, but the early reviews don't make it sound especially good. It will get plenty of players, though. I have a lot of respect for Turbine, but it comes from them being a small company who cared about their game and subscribers at the start. Because of this good experience, I'm more likely to want to buy a game from a small company. I have this illusion that they care more.
As for TCoS itself, I adore the idea of no armor, no grinding, quests that make sense and arc throughout the life of the character in a relevant way, some solo-ability, the classes are somewhat different in a fun way, and a more real-life combat system. Not to mention the gorgeous graphics. I know we've all heard about these "new" game elements and promises before, but I have a really good feeling about this one. I hope that it pans out.
Anyway, I've had a good feeling about this game since I saw it announced. Not sure why, but I do.
As long as the WoW kiddies don't play this game I will probably enjoy it. I know it's selfish to say that because those are the same players that make a company lots and lots of money, but they really ruin the community for the more mature audience.
I would be interested to know what the company would consider a success/ what they are aiming for in terms of subscriber numbers. WoW kind of redefined what makes an MMO successful, but I really hope TCOS isn't shooting for 50 servers at launch or anything that rediculous.
To answer the topic: It will (i hope)
