Does it get better?

So far, this game is hard to control, hard to chat, slow paced, hard, and frusterating. Does it get any better?

Hum... Control, what is hard in placing your right hand on numpad and left and on arrows? Chat, it cannot really be hard to chat since you only have to press a letter and it starts typing the message... slow paced, that depends on HOW YOU play, it goes kind of fast for me. It's sure it's not as fast as Diablo 2 but it's a MMORPG. Frustrating, I agree, exp lost is frustrating but, if you check monsters before attacking, you won't die.

The keyboard controls don't seem that bad, but then again I rarely use them... Pickup a Logitech Dual Action gamepad for $20 and it will payoff. It makes the game play great, and handles just about every single command very smoothly on the controller alone, but you can combine the two to work wonders.

And just like the last guy, the pace is just how you play it. If you don't know the besy way to level, yes it is very slow. If for your first 5 levels, you kill decent matches-evens, then for the next 5-7 levels you chain a lot of 'easy preys' then it will go a lot faster. Then when you reach around 13-15, people will want you in groups then it goes even faster. I just hit 16, and time is flying for me and I'm meeting a lot more people then I ever thought I would because the first ten levels, it felt the community was non-existant.

So to summarize it all up, Yes, it gets better image

    one more thing....

Consider that you might not be the right class for your play style also... I started off as hume so I could try out several classes, and eventually landed on warrior because it fits how I like to play. I was miserable playing my desired class of red mage or monk though... I guess they say sometimes what you want to be, isn't always what you are ;) Try a different class if you're having too difficult a time with it.

Exactly, I started playing a Monk, and I really found FFXI crappy but since I play warrior I really like it.

Controls are awkward at first, but learn the keyboard shortcuts and set up macros and for God's sake throw away the mouse! Soon the controls will be 2nd nature and you will be having the best MMORPG experience ever.

I think the control are quite nice with all the main control on the numpad. I usually configure all my keys on every games on it, so i find it nice that a game using those keys (and it's also easier for me as a left handed person :) )
