WoW is a very good MMO, no matter how many people slate it and say its a pile of shit, its a very very good MMO (possibly the third best i've ever played).
the reason its so great is the sheer amount of content, there is ALOT to do in the game, ALOT of items and ALOT of interaction between players.... players are able to either solo or group (this is very dependent on level, over around 45 you'll have to start grouping to get quests done), but then grouping is done rather well so its not a problem.
people complain that the community isnt very good, but i cant say i've experienced that myself. my guess is that the people complaining about the poor community are from PVP servers, which would generally attract the less 'mature' player. however on normal servers like i played the community seems nice, and i found a great guild in no time.
the only thing i'd say is that pvp is lacking slightly, the battlegrounds get boring quick, and it all ends up feeling a bit pointless, but nethertheless it is fairly good fun and the pvp rewards are decent incentive to partake in pvp.
but anyway, yea i'd say its worth trying out at least, you WILL enjoy it until at least level 40 ish, this is where i tend to get bored and leave the game tho, so i guess it depends how much you like the game by that point to determine weather you'll play on until 60.
WoW's graphics will blow Knight Online into oblivion. WoW is a very classy, very polished game that is simply fun and gorgeous. The gameplay is pretty straight-forward and simple to learn. There are tons of players everywhere to talk to and hunt with.. etc.
I would label WoW a lot more arcade stlye then older mmos like EQ, UO and Asherons Call. It isn't my dream mmo, and doesn't have near the depth or sophistication of older mmos... but it is a VERY SOLID, VERY ENTERTAINING, and EXTREMELY SMOOTH game loaded with players, monsters to kill, quests to complete, and new terrain to explore.
I personally think that WoW is easily worth trying out, even tho it will likely set you back $40 to $50 which will include the first 30 days free. I also put WoW well above its heated rival Everquest 2 in my personal ratings and level of fun factor.
...However, as mentioned about a million times on these forums already, WOW offers good solid gameplay only for a very limited time. After you level up, the games sheer lack of depth quickly smacks you in the face and makes you realize that an mmo should really offer so much more substance and depth. It will leave you looking for something more... much the same as say dating a really really pretty blonde for 3 months, having your fun... then realizing you are bored to death and that you need someone not so damn shallow.
Hope this helps you. More specific questions might get you more specific answers if that's what you are asking however.

WoW is "worth it" for three months.
If you play it longer than that, you are in the category of "easily entertained."

WoW is definitely worth 6 months of game-play. This is personal preference, but I was easily entertained for 14 months before retiring. That includes 4 months to level my first character to 60 and then starting 5 more characters and cycling through them as they leveled. WoW environments are superb. My favorites are Stranglethorn Veil, Tanaris, Un'goro Crater, and Feralas.
While many dispute the merits of WoW's game-play, it is a highly polished, well thought out game. At least 5+ million people are currently playing it.
Primary critiques tend to focus on grinding and game-play after level 60. The game moves from exploration questing as solo or in 5 person parties, to all most 100% high level, large raid (20-40) instanced dungeons or just 3 Battleground PVP arenas. Some players love the high end instances. Many like myself hated them not because of the content, but because I don't like huge groups. These dungeons could have been designed for 10 person groups and been just as challenging if Blizzard had wanted to. As I had explored most of the WoW, I finally came to accept what was waiting for me when my 5 toons leveled at 60 so I quit in Jan06.

Past MMOs- Planetside, WoW.
Current MMO:
Current Games: L4D, Skyrim
Tried- ATITD, EQ2, SoR, Vanguard,SL,LOTRO,SotNW,SWTOR.
Anticipating- GW2, Planetside2
It's worth the money in terms of content and quality.
And also in playerbase and server performance.
It's not worth the money for tech support as there isn't any.
99.99% of all MMO, or rpg or fantasy gamers wll get value for money from this product.
While it is most definitely the highest quality and most popular MMO on the market, it is just another fantasy MMO at heart.
not really, i actualy played p2p mmorpgs before,
