    Would kick major ass if Lucas yanks the Star Wars title from SoE and gives it to these guys. NCsoft is very capable of making a good game.

    I like the last sentence espcially, stating how NCSOFT gives their developers time to create quality products. If true, NCSOFT is the complete opposite of SOE/LA.

    I'd also like to know the names of these spacetime jokers... if any of the DEV's from galaxies are the 'bad apples' then I will lose all hope.

    Also, anyone rememeber the NCSOFT rumor that started because they were hireing a team for Austin?Yeah, this looks like it. While I don't believe they'll take over SWG in any way, shape, or form; it does appear they are developing a new original space-based mmorpg, which I am anxiously awaiting to see.

     Its news like this and news from a recent locked down thread that gives hope that I will once again play SWG. Good luck to all in this new endeavor - Strangely enough I was e-mailed an invite to send my resume off to San fran for a marketing job , has anyone else been approached?

    You're definetly in the minority there. Since you seem to think the NGE is better than any-other incarnation of SWG, maybe you'd care to explain to us why the NGE is superior?

    Well they must be planning something because they just had that focus group and I doubt that they wouldn't waste money for nothing.  They are not SOE.

    Well it said Ex-devs...so im hoping that means the origionals. I mean the same people have been around for awhile, at least on the forums, like TH and Pex, TH wasnt part of the development team, he was/is just a "lucky" fanboi with a pair of lips that fit on corporate ass. Also, the company has Space in the name, and for a reason im sure, besides that they came from SWG. Maybe they will be attempting to take over the Sci-Fi genre /shrug.

    Are they the good devs who created thiss game that all the press, including non-gaming press, is bashing ? Are they the good devs that have caused 80% of the player base to cancel ? Are they the good devs that are the current laughing stock of the industry ? Are they the good devs that have, indirectly, caused such halfvits as Celestian to annoy us us with their idiotic ramble ? I hope not. In fact, knowing NCsoft and their good games and solid reputation, I am sure they are not.

    This really does remind me of earth and beyond and the situation over there, however the ENB devs have a game out already *star wars empire at war* and they are said to be signing another deal for an second Star wars EW.

    Lineage < UO

    Lineage II < WoW or EQ2 or EQ or DAOC or AC1 or AO etc..  Nice graphics, boring game.

    COH/COV is the only title worth a crap that NCSoft has... and I don't even enjoy that one, hated it actually.

    Not saying SOE is any better but PUHLEASE I have yet to see NCSoft release a title that's worth playing, let alone paying for.

    I read that is a lot of the guys that did the JTL expansion, and worked on the Privateer and Wing Commander games, a bunch of the old Origin guys.

    And one name I did recognise was GreenMarine that worked on SWG, not sure what he was responsible for so not sure to get excited or fearful of suckage.

    i hope with all my hart they get the SWG2 deal or make a game somewhere near these guys kick arse shame SOE could not keep upto the high standards that tyey set for SWG

    Take a look at the now famous History of Smugglers as written by the Devs, and you'll see his name come out A LOT!

    I gotta stand up for GreenMarine here. First off, he left well before NGE hit, around 7/05 I believe. 2ndly, he had one of the widest ranging dev jobs at SOE throughout SWG's history. Yeah, he was supposed to be the guy doing the Smuggler Revamp, but at least he had the balls to say "Hey guys, I'm swamped and workin as hard as I can." He was also responsible for the coding of some of our favorite things in SWG. Like Mounts and Vehicles and a good chunk of JTL. All in all I think he had more to do with things we liked then things we didn't. I don't hold the Smuggler thing against him, at least he addressed it. And my main was a Smug from day 1 till he died with the NGE.

    Gary Gattis? Yeah, he was one of the few who actually tried to do something in SWG.

    He was point man on the combat rebalance. Not that crap they rolled out with on ROTW. The combat rebalance we were supposed to get. He was the man also that brought us the Geonosis bio lab.

    He'll do alright. His team will do alright. He ain't the guy who brought us SWG in 2003, but he at least has the good sense to "stay the course."

    This is great news.  Some hope for more science fiction oriented mmorpg gaming for those who don't care for the sameness of the fantasy genre.

    The "team" that created the NGE is still busily working away at destroying Star Wars Galaxies a pixel at a time so I don't think you have to worry that this team will be involved in an LA switch to NCSoft.  It sounds like these Spacetime guys want to make the sort of game they weren't allowed to make with SOE/LA.  More power to them.  Maybe they will be working on Tabula Rasa or some other new title?

    Regarding Greenmarine my impression in he was someone who fought for player concerns as best as he was allowed to fight for them and he had to just walk away in disgust.  He is pretty well regarded I think by the vets who remember him.

    Yeah, Greenmarine was one of the old guard who actually tried. He was pushed away by those who wanted to shortcut the whole thing. He was marginalized. I think he was the last to care.

    This development DEFINATELY lends creedence to the rumors that LEC is considering yanking SWG from SOE and opening some pre-CU servers run by NCSoft while they work on SWG2 that floated around awhile back, doesn't it?

    IMHO, if there is any truth to that, what could be happening is that SOE is trying to do anything to boost sub numbers (and failing) to keep the contract.

    I'm sure that LEC put some performance requirements in the license. And there is no way 50K subcribers is meeting that, they probably can give notice and yank the license any time they want to now.

    If memory serves me Greenmarine was also one of the most accessible devs as well. His name came up a lot in the ranger forum as a posterboy for how we wanted a dev to act especially in the case of someone handling our revamp. The man fought hard for prpfessions he was assgined to though I am sure when they saddled him with the smuggler revamp - they probably didn't give him the time to work on it. Especially considering his work with the combat update that ceased to exist.
