Ok, sorry if this is old news to any of you, but..........
Someone pointed me in the direction of this game the other day, and I've gotta say, it's my new hope for MMORPGs. Looks like a Virtual World, Skill Based Characters, Player Economy, Vehicles, the whole works. Everything we miss about SWG. I think we may have some hope here.

And, the producers have been very adamate about "This game will not be done, till it's DONE."
Hype meter is set very high for this one. What do you guys think?

Doesn't sound bad, but there isn't much info on the skills yet, not sure it has room for a former tamer. Going to keep an eye on it, maybe some more info is added later

Watch for Vanguard: Saga of Hero's

This will be released this summer. They just started Beta 3. They have everything SWG had except it is in medevil times. Yes I know ... it isn't sci-fi. But it will pretty much have everything SWG had. There are also alot of SWG refugees there many post also.

I am not Beta testing yet so (tho I did get the invite like hudreds of other people, just not selected ... yet) I can't say as to how it all looks and feels but this looks like it could be a winner. I have seen screens and the in-game gui looks very similar to SWG.

I've looked at Vangaurd, but I like Sci-Fi. I'm not a huge fan of swords and spells.

Not to mention 4 out of every 5 MMO's are the same rehash fantasy realm. I really wish some good mmos will start hitting the market that are outside of this.

yeah ... I know what you're saying .... but at least it will have alot stuff that SWG had. There just isnt any real good MMOs out there .... /frowns.

Star Trek online is by Perpetual and they just gave one of their other MMos to SOE ....

I loved Fallout and Fallout 2.  If the game creators here have half the visual and story telling style, I'm in.

Beta Tested: Eq2, WoW, SWG, MxO, Anarchy Online, CoH, CoV . . .

No Beta Test can be worse than MxO.

Other games that might be worth to keep track on, would possibly be Tabula Rasa (it's no longer fantasy it's now sci-fi) and Huxley. There are more, but this ones look promissing.

at least there is something out there skill based and hopefuly they won't go the way of forced grouping

It's true.  Vanguard is very similar to Galaxy of old.

Vanguard is the only game I'm truley looking forward to playing.  With everything I've read about this game I feel this is the only game that'll replace SWG.  It has basically all the features SWG had plus many more.

But the best thing about Vanguard is, it's not run by SOE.  For this alone it should be a gigantic improvement over SWG.

I too looked at Tabula Rasa but when reading the game play features it looked like it was going to be a fps..
