Ever since SWG went down hill, I haven't been able to find an MMO even half as good(IMO). Any other pre-cu refugees find an mmo similar to old school swg? Been eyeing The Chronicle, but who knows when that's gonna come out.
if any game is going to come close to swg (greatest mmo of all time imo), it will be vanguard saga of heroes/ it seems to have an enphasis on community building and social interaction. check it out i bet its alot better then that dnl oh i mean the chronicle . stay away from those small time mmo's they are all hype and no substance.
ive played mmos from the beggining...and this is the longest i have gone without playing an mmo since i started...im currently playing nothing and sitting on the fence so to speak. just sit tight avalek and be willing to open your wallet to less mainstream games like the chronicle etc these games need our help
I have yet tom come accross the perfect MMO. I don't think there is one. But I've been playing EQ2 from the word go and so far it has what I need. But does it have what I want? The little things that would make it just a tad better? Of course not, because they don't exist and neither does the perfect MMO.
All MMO's are worth playing as they serve a different experience for different people.

what a complete gobshite you are...the only comapnys that are trying to offer anything different and innovative at the moment are the small fry companys who refuse to make everquest clones...im glad people didnt take your opinion on this matter when eve was first released
The last MMOG I played was EVE Online, which I played for 3 unsatisfying weeks, and that was 16 months ago! We deserve far better than what we're getting that's for sure. Personally, I only play Sci-Fi MMOGs but since most of the MMOGs out or in development are fantasy I'm doubly screwed!
Indeed, the outlook is so bad that I could totally ignore MMOGs altogether 'till 2010 and not miss a single thing! The worst thing of all, IMO, is the fact that developers aren't even using mainstream technologies in their upcoming games; 64-bit CPUs (and definitely not multiple core CPUs), fast internet connections like VDSL-2, support for shader 3., etc.
I'm not currently playing any MMOs if that's what you mean. Most of them feel too similar to each other. There are a couple I'm keeping my eye on that are in development, but right now the genre is incredibly stagnant. I'm hoping some new games will shake up the formula a bit.
When people will pay others to play a game for them it might be a sign the game isn't all that fun.
I played UO the longest of any MMO I've played. SWG would be second (counted as consecutive months subscribed rather than how long the game was out and I went back). I played DAoC off and on since it was out but can't stay subscribed.
That said I've played most MMO's... I liked Earth and Beyond a lot was just to small. Most games I just can't get into. I don't like classes/levels. I like freedom of character development.
I don't know if Vanguard will be something I can get into but I have been watching it. What I wonder is how many people will call it a EQ clone.. (and ya I'm saying that with some sarcasm lol. I can just see a lot of people saying that and not realizing the irony).
I retired from WoW in January and am scoping out Vanguard and Hero's Journey. Don't think any of them are perfect...

I have to agree. Im in exactly the same situation as the OP. SWG was my 1st and greatest MMO I played, love it to bits. Have played Eve, EQ2 and WoW since then. WoW was my last which the sub got cancelled last october/november. Since then there has been nothing really. The 2 games which has caught my eye are Seed and Pirates of the Burning Sea. Though all this talk about Vanguard recently has made me interested, though I do wanna move away from the fantacy MMO

I'm currently hanging out at the Carrion Fields MUD right now. I'm probably just going to stick with MUDs until they make a game that isn't a total grindfest. I also dig strategy and tactical FPS games, so I have plenty to do until that happens.
I am currently playing EQ2 and it's probably not worth paying for. The pvp is really pointless, no freedom in creating your charactor, it has player housing but it's instanced and I don't like that, can't effect the game world at all, the grind is beginning to get to me lol, ummmmmmmm yea there isnt' anything really worth paying for but out of boredom I am paying for Eq2.
I'm looking at Vanguard and Darkfall (which I'm so afraid it won't make it to release and if it does god knows when that will happen) The big question right now is what all types of servers will Vanguard have. If they have a ffa/guild pvp server then I'm sold.
About the comment of SWG being the best mmorpg of all time. I will have to say if it had been finished at release....with a little smoother combat system and balanced classes.....and faction pets. I would probably still be playing it right now. It did have player housing, guild vs guild combat, indepth crafting system, you could make your charactor however you wanted it to be for example I had a master pistoleer, with smuggler last ditch special line, and dodge stacked from fencer, with some decent medic skills...it was a rather elite build back in the day. Now what does a level 60 priest have to say about that?????
It's flaws were the extremely unbalanced classes, faction pets such as the at-st's were insanely overpowering, and the pvp system really ended up being pointless. If you wanted to be a rebel you could be a rebel and never fight against someone from the imperial side in pvp. The world couldn't be shaped socially, politically, or physically by the players unless everyone wanted to join in it was their choice which sounds good.....but in the end it was retarded. I could get in a pvp battle with someone, die, then rez and come back out of the cloning facility and sit right in front of the person that just killed me and he could not attack me.

I feel like that. I used to enjoy playing Asheron's Call 1 before that UO. I haven't been able to enjoy an MMO since then. Not really

I don't see anything changing anytime soon...

Nop, nothing worth playing..... Hopping for a pre-cu SWG server....
