Any word on when beta goes live?

I am really interested in trying this game out.  I have it preordered and was wondering if they announced a beta timeframe.  Anyone know?

You'll know first hand when the beta starts up if you keep an eye on the official website. Turbine hasn't even started taking applications, so I'd say it could be a few months before it starts.

I saw at my local game store that LOTRO was due around 5-1-2006.  Now I am hearing Q4!!!!  *cry*

It has always been Q4 of 2006. The game stores have been putting out release dates and pushing them back for the last year or so. Go to the official website for the game it will be announced there when beta starts and when release is. Any other source than the official website has no clue.

back when it was called Middle Earth Online the release date was dec 31, 2004.

As much as I love LOTR movies and the books, me thinks this game is vaporware or the next Matrix disaster.

I quit on this game long back, it took to long to release i myself think it will never be released.
