Couple of whines from a practised old whiner

First whine : I DONT HAVE THE GAME YET!! Pre-ordered like 3 months ago and we still havnt seen the boxes in Oz yet. Latest intel is the 16th but even that is shrouded in mystery as to whether it will actually happen or not. Im actually glad I didnt have a pre-order key (pre-ordered from EB store) because if I had already been playing Id probably be even more pi$$ed than I am now. Very dissapointing and totally typical of MMORPG releases in Australia, we always seem to get the short end of the stick on releases.

Whine #2 : Check this out ...

What is it 10 maybe 14 days into release and already there are extraordinary amounts of Plat for sale on Ebay. This conclusively proves 2 things for me.

  1. MMO gold advertising accounts for a tiny portion of the market because this game is so new the ads have had nothing to do with promoting gold sales yet... indeed there are no ads.
  2. The devs are responsible. Again they had the opportunity to innovate something with game currency to stop this trade and they chose not to.
  3. They arnt interested in stopping it now it has started, they could easily email Ebay and have these listings removed but they dont. Just read this if you dont believe me...

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/copyrights.html

Ebay can and does remove listings on request from the holders of copyrights and trademarks and all the licence holders have to do is ask. There is no debate the listings are removed immediately. Proving once and for all that this game like most others is staffed by people that couldnt give a flying $%#@ about gold farming as long as they pull in the subscription fees. It would take one employee 10 minutes per day to check for and remove listings, thats assuming you couldnt do a blanket listing ban with Ebay, which of course you could.

Game developers are 100% responsible and 0% accountable for the out of game trade in items. The facts speak for themselves in this case. It is irrefutable evidence.
