release date of 12/01/06

Not to doubt mmorpg.com but I have doubts about this release date.

From the recent video clip, LOTR hardly looks ready for testing much less release. This game is starting to remind me of Darkfall where they simply took way too long to develop. You get to a point where the graphics are just too dated to play.

I still recall release dates for summer 2004 then dec 31 2004, then nothing. This game is way overdue

What is confusing to me, is that there is a Turbine Middle Earth Online game that is scheduled for release 5/1/06 according to EBGames and a couple other sites. I assume they're the same game, but it's referred to as "Middle Earth Online" and not "Lord of the Rings Online". Of course, EBGames could just have the wrong date.

    Looking for a real game.

Do not llok for accurate release dates at EB, Gamestop, Gamespot, etc.

They are the same game, the websites just don't update games that don't have a lot of hype. Check the official site, still only says 2006. No specific date has been said yet. Though Patience has said that it will definately not come out in May.

It did in fact used to be called Middle Earth Online. I cant recall if the game was bought out or if they simply just changed the name. MEO was changed to LOTR but the game has remained perpetually in beta.

By the time this sucker launches it will be too late anyway. Graphics are horribly dated now, imagine what they'll seem like in another year (if it launches then)

I think at E3 we will learn all the little things about this game that we bugging the devs about. And soon after beta will start.

As for the trailer, which was put out to satisfy the community. Why would the put forth there best footage when E3 is so close and that is a better platform for promoting the game.

Yes this game was originally called MEO, when turbine came into soul possession of the license they changed the name to LOTRO. As for EBgames, they are just trying to get preorders to boost there sale margin IMO. I wouldn't trust what they had to say. Look  to the official LOTRO website for release date.

Turbine is still saying a 2006 release. The general concensus is that it will be a christmas 2006 release to catch the christmas sales. Though i would wait until Q1 of 2007 if it ment the game being finished and not rushed out to catch the best sale market of the year.
