Playable with 2 people?

Hejo there!

Is DDO playable for 2 people?

I didnt like the combat system in GW, but i get the feeling DDO could be right for me.
But can 2 persons do all the quests and have fun or do they need full groups?

I suppose it's possible. It would probably be pretty hard though. You would have to constantly be doing quests below your level. Personaly, I wouldn't recomend it. fortunately it's always easy to find group members.

Other than the first few quests, it's not really viable with a group of only 2 people.  I tried it with myself and a friend, and we couldn't make it through the dungeon.  Now, MAYBE if one was a cleric and the other a fighter you might be able to do it, but other combos probably wouldn't work at all.  But like the other poster said, it's easy to find group members.

    /agreed

Being ozzy I play in the quietest hours of the game and I got several group invites wheile I was still reading the tips at level 1 rank 1 lol. I dont know why so many people are complaining about not being able to get groups, there was heaps of groups LFM the whole time I was playing last night.

    Very Doable

Actually myself and my brother.....now lvl 7 and 6 paladin and fighter have duo'd every quest up to this point and have done many above our levels up until lvl 7.  Its actually more fun and challenging this way to do it with people who have done the dungeons 10 times and run through it.  Anyone who can't duo the quests up til this level needs to use tactics pulling, positioning, etc.....

Exactly.  While the dungeons are balanced for a group of four, most 'em are doable with a good duo.  Paladin/Wizard, Cleric/Ranger, etc.

The bigger ones, you'll want to pick up a mate or two for, but that's ridiculously simple.

Yes it is very possible to duo this game, my friend and I are both level 5 and have duo'd most of the way. We now have another guildmate playing with us and we went through the entire splinterskull questline from start to finish the other night.

During the whole time we were soloing we were only doing quests that were the same level as us. We have repeated only a few as well. WW twice, Shan-to-Kor twice, Redfang 3 times (twice on hard cause it's short and fun) and those are the ONLY times we've repeated quests. We still have plenty of quests we haven't even tried yet.

My wife and I have duo'd a pally cleric to level 5 so far.  You have to play well, and be prepared to spend money on healing wands, but we do it.  I have heard the rogue cleric is the best duo, and now that we are level 5, i can see why.  Some of the quests are so trap heavy you have to have a rogue to live through it.  Also our pally cleric can duo a quest 1 level higher without to much trouble, as long as its undead.

    Thanks for the answers...

    Some more questions please:

    - Would a pally/rogue combo be fine? or would something be missing?

    - Is the fighting very exhausting for the real players? I havent tried the game yet, but i heard you have to concentrate all the time on the fighting. Not like EQ, click one time for example and you would have auto attack. When its like this, dou you still enjoy the game for longer also or just for one/two hours?
I for example would like it this way, but my girlfriend is a bit conerned about this fact...please tell your opinions...

    - How are the quests? You get told a story or just find item A or kill mob B?

    - Do you need tactic for the quests/dungeons...for example...fine pulling, solving riddles, be careful, because of nasty traps, use special tactics for special enemies (for example: mumies can be just killed with fire or so?)

Thanks in advance for all your answers :)

Here's my opinion on your questions:

    1.  I think you would have a hard time without one of you being a Cleric.  Even being cautious you're still going to get beat on.  And if you want to do any of the major dungeons, like the Water Works, you can forget about going unless you have at least 2 more join you (a full group is best).

    2.  The fighting can be a bit difficult.  The monsters will move around, jump back, and employ some of their own tactics in attacking you.  They also have a habit of changing targets as well.  It's not the simple click and wait combat of other MMOs.  I find it to be a bit tiring sometimes, but it's not all that bad.

    3.  The quests are rather complex at times.  There are usually several objectives to complete (i.e. kill the guards, release the prisoners, then kill the jailor).

    4.  You need tactics and some strategy for most of the dungeons.  There are traps around, and there are also hidden passages or treasure.  There is a little of the riddle-solving and puzzles as well/  And you do need special tactics depending on what you're fighting.  As an example, skeletons take more damage from blunt weapons, but zombies are hurt more by slashing.

    I hope this helps you.
