    That would suck, imo.

I said it above, timers and all that to limit a hardcore gamer from getting more and better stuff before you is just selfish. Some people have the free time and some don't. It's up to those people to decide how they want to spend their free time. If they want to sit in front of a computer all day long everyday, let them, it's their choice.

I can't even guess how hugely ticked off I would be when I get a day off from work and sit down in front of my favorite game to play all day because I finally have a chance to do so, then I get to suffer penalties...

No, let the morons play as long as they would like and let them get the better items, they deserve it. Anyone that is lacking that much in real world social skills needs all the help they can get, imo.

I do think MMO should come with a warning. And a new rating should be put in place. HA (Highly Addictive)

Whats the use of content like this? It just lives on people being addicted, and it doesn't even entertain them after a while. Sure, its the fault of the player mainly, but that doesn't mean that content like this should exist. Or does everyone here that says that its the players fault want all drugs to be legal? I mean, its the users fault if they get addicted to it anyway.

It's the journey that counts not the destination.  If your only objective is to get to the top as fast as you can, then signup for XBOX live and spend all your time pwning people.  That should give you the satisfaction you are looking for.

Some of my friends play hockey to much, up to a point they think about hockey all day and miss some "opportunities" because they can't get off hockey.

I don't see any sport giving this warning, I am sure you know a Joe Baseball or a Brad Football or a John Basket addict in your surrounding.  The problem is not with the activity they enjoy.  In fact this activity is helping them to enjoy life.  Cutting in it or warning against it can only have negative effects.

If for sports warning that they may be addictive and nasty on someone health would not be advisable, why should it be any different with a video game.

I play over 80 hours every week.  But I can skip 3 weeks and feel no drawback at all.  I become a Game Designer (thanks lucky star) and nearly everyone at job consider me a hardcore gaming freak...when the folks on the design team think you are a freak, I guess you really are!

Point is, I love those little games.  If you think I spend to much time playing them, don't go bashing them, try to valorised other aspects of life, negative depreciation will not work, might spoil my mood and nope, not going to work.  If you fail to valorised other aspect of life, just be happy someone play those game that much, since they succeed where everything else fail.

Should little silly games be given this responsability?  Nope, but it will happen, and the more it happen, the more they patch more or less other deficient aspects of life.  Someone plays games more time then he sleeps (I think this is the turning point, when you play more than you sleep, you can consider yourself a freak who have little interest in the other aspects of life).

If I was isolated on an island and could bring 1 thing only, it would be everything to get a working computer.  I am a geek, yes.  But would I cry if I would be stuck without a computer?  Well, maybe, but not that much...however I would be bored to a point that would most likely disturb folks...so seeing me happily playing on my computer and having a better demeanor is certainly better than the other alternative, who know...maybe I would drink beer, lot of beer, if I was bored...now beer hinder my gaming performance, thereby beer is taken lightly, for social reasons only.

Video games are not part of the problem, they are part of the solution!

Should bakers stop baking cakes because some fat person keeps stuffing their face with them?

Addiction never has arises by itself. It is always an escape from real issues. As such, addiction to games is no different to any other addiction. MMOs are just one genre, it apears in every other activity, there's people addicted to working out, for example.
