Really interested in DDO...

I liked the appeal of Guild Wars, but it was just too shallow to catch my attention for more than a month or so.
However, DDO seems like it would have a lot of replayability, as well as the fact that I have a lot of friends for a static group for the instances. The combat videos I've seen look awesome, and I've always been a fan of DnD (not necessarily the pen and paper, but NWN). I loved NWN, but it got a little tedious for me. I think a simplified version would hold my attention better than NWN (sort of like the allure of WoW).
So, my main point is... is there anywy I could get a buddy key from someone here? If this were a free game like GW, I'd own it in a heartbeat. However, because it is $15/month, I don't know if I want to spend the initial $50 on something I'll only play a few weeks.
