At 22 you have to leave the newbie island. You are vulnerable anytime you are outside a Safehold. (Cities you can become part of after being kicked off newbie island) I think you can remain a member of a safehold up to lvl 50 or 55? Then you are either in a Player guild or errant (meaning you have no guild)
In War - Victory. In Peace - Vigilance. In Death - Sacrifice.
A level 40 or 50 can hit and kill a level 75, if equipped and trained right. I have seen a level 20 assassin kill a level 75 mage before. Most other games make it impossable for you to kill someone a few levels higher than you, and that higher level person can one shot you. Not in SB, if you play right.

Yep,I'd have to agree with you there. I was being PL'd by a couple of R7's a few days back, and I was tracking people on my radar. Suddenly this r7 warrior kills my friend and then attempts to kill me. He scores about 800-900 dmg in 2 hits, but I manage to sprint away and I live with about 1/2 hp. (ok and the r7's came to hunt him down)
On any other game I'm pretty sure that warrior would have killed me in the 2 hits he managed to pull off on me. Now I see that bugger every time I'm in Khar'Sext; I plan to one day kill him.

I've killed r6-r7 characters on 3 different r2 characters (theif, huntress, and a bard), but this usually requires good gear, buffs, and knowing your enemy... or just some dumb luck: one of those kills was my r2 huntress in nothing-particular gear and no buffs and I killed a level 75 vamp mage assassin, because he was an idiot and paniced when I attacked (by panic I meant he didn't react as anyone thinking clearly would have, which would have resulted in my quick and painful death). Seriously though, I would not reccomend PvP until you find a guild, because until then, you're probably un-buffed and very badly geared, and since most everyone else is in good gear and often fully buffed, you won't stand a chance. My advice, find a guild--check the recruitment forums for whatever server you're on.
pvp begins at lvl 1, that is if you leave the newbie island and replege or teleport to a open player city...you cant go to sea dogs rest untill you hit lvl 10.. when you make your character you are now in the pvp warning...
Hmmm need buffs and uber gear......if I recall following the making of this game beginning in 2000 that was what the game was not suppsoed to be about. Hmmm and it's failed.....probably the carebears ruined it, YEs that must be it. lol The developers of SB were utter idiots and this "game" proves it.
Oh and if anyone sees Ashen Temper ingame telll im "I told you so" from Gorukha
It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.
The previous poster said you need uber gear if you're an R2 trying to kill an R7. Gear in this game is the easiest to come by than in any other game. And the game hasn't failed, its still going isnt it?
Quit hating imo and make a toon on sb so i can own the infamous Gorhuka.

I know someone who plays scouts without buffs as much as possable, and beats buffed scouts ALOT. He knows his scouts, and he doesnt like buffs.
I have also beat people without buffs, and at half hitpoints (ahem, from safemode vs tree campers). Buffs arent everything.

Its been a lonnnng time since I played but If i remember right buffs didnt matter that much. Your Build and runes is the major factor.
This is only mmo ive seen 3 players take out 20 before. Yes this was when game first came out so not as likely to happen nowdays (yes the 20 were rank 4-6)
People have better builds now and all the newbs and carebears are long gone I would assume.

I rember 3 people taking on about 30, taking out 18, and the rest fled thru the moongate (in another game). That game was Ultima Online, when factions first came out. 3 Minax faction players vs 30 true brit players. I was one of the 3 Minax. I have, however, lost my screenshot of the dead bodies afterword.
