    Ya I know...

as was posted in the other thread and I agree with the part

"never heard of this site before"

Which amazing has a "mole" that they can't prove exists...

And still no official announcements on any of it...

When Brad left SOE they announced it...

Heck Rich V left they announced that...

The only one they didn't announce was Gordon Walton.

Yet Raph is gone and no announcement.. didn't see anything on his site either (raph's site that is).

Even if he signs an NDA about why he left he can confirm he left.  Which I hope he has...

But all you did was link to a site that no one has ever heard of... that gives us a bunch more "unconfirmed" rumors...

Based on things we'd think would happen... but haven't yet.. and this has been the same speculation at least as far back as the Combat Upgrade.

Also since the SWG license was pulled from SOE...

It definitely makes sense for the company to be doing a tour in April (officially announced by the way) to various cities to have Town Hall style meetings so we the fans can meet and speak to the team.

Definitely would make sense to waste that money on a game you no longer have...

Obviously common sense and soe don't mix.. but the profit grubbing company they are.. wouldn't spend money on a game they lost (according to you the OP and your "source) in Feb as your disclosed license pull date in your other thread.

The only "official" statement I've seen even related is the SOE tour in April for SWG...

so I still doubt you sorry.

(edited for more grammatical errors than you can shake a ban stick at)

    Two things about that tour...

    1. Might be another case of the left arm not knowing what the right arm is doing again. Recall the ranger revamp was maybe a week or two from hitting in a publish before they announced the NGE. Also I believe (cant recall exactly) pub 23 or 24 had just done a major squad leader revamp which again was a total waste.

Folks wouldnt believe the rumors about the NGE because otherwise why would SOE be doing SL revamps and such ? It just didnt make sense to us.

Im pretty sure folks like Tiggs were left out of the loop as well....the old plausible deniability thingie when she denounced NGE rumors.

    2. The summitt is supposedly happening in April which is a week away and yet no official dates ? I seriously doubt they would plan such an event with so little notice and no announced cities / dates yet. Me thinks its BS

By the way I have a "source" at another website...

    http://www.raphkoster.com/

and the following was posted this morning (partial post you can go to the site yourself)

"I missed every session except Phil Harrison’s keynote, because of meetings or just stopping in the hallway to chat. And that keynote has been reported all over the web, so I won’t go into detail, except to say that I wish I had my PSP with me so I could download Loco Roco onto it at the PSP download station. Oh, and that SOE got a great shout-out for our work on the network platform. Woo hoo!"

Posted on March 23rd (today) about GDC day three.

And YES that is Raph's official site...

Kinda odd that he left SOE but is stating in his post today

"Oh, and that SOE got a great shout-out for our work on the network platform. Woo hoo"

Yes I'd like him to have left as well but...

Just to keep things in prospective, here's the site's welcoming blurb:

"As if you don't waste enough of your time in a gamer's haze, here's Kotaku: a gamer's guide that goes beyond the press release. Gossip, cheats, criticism, design, nostalgia, prediction. Don't get a life just yet."

It's just a fun gossip site, not to be quoted as a "hard-hitting, investigative journal" as lending credence to your "rumor." image

"Gossip" is not synonymous with "fallacy", they could very well be right on about every claim.  All I'm saying is that it's always important to consider the source of your info when presenting it as evidence.

    the shit will start flying...

I think some of us SWG junkies need some

I agree with Sony starting a SWG team tour of several cities that the whole idea that the license getting pulled by LFL/LA is very very very very slim.

They also said there was a ranger revamp coming and what did we get? THE NGE!  I for one tend not to believe anything until I see some definitive proof, however I believe this one because there is just too much circumstantial evidence to support it.  IF SWG wa son trial there would be enough evidence for a jury to come to the conclusion that a take over is coming.  image

Okay a second site, one more credible has heard the same "rumor" I have from my source...

    http://www.gamespot.com/news/6146555.html

There was also a rumor circulating that SOE would soon lose the rights to the Star Wars license--and suffer the fate of having to delete or otherwise retire the "Star Wars" component of its Galaxies MMORPG title; SOE called that speculation "completely untrue."

Anyone starting to believe me now ? image

"1) Yes Raph is leaving SOE. It's not some big dramatic thing - it's simple.. he's at the end of his contract with SOE and he wants to try some new things that realistically we can't do here at SOE right now. The truth is Raph is an incredibly talented and amazingly creative person and he has 1000 great ideas. He's done some great things in this industry and I know he'll continue to do great things. Raph's been with SOE for 5 years. I've enjoyed working with him a lot and he's made some great contributions. At the end of the day we have a finite amount of resources and projects that we can have in development at any one time. He wants to try some new stuff that we can't do at this stage.. we have a lot of things we are trying to do as a company right now. I'm always surprised by the amount of rampant speculation that goes on about stuff like this.

    2) No - in fact LucasArts isn't "pulling the Star Wars" license or anything of the kind. We have a very long term deal and things are fine between our companies. It's complete and utter fabrication. I feel like we need extra-special tin-foil hats in the shape of Darth Vader's mask or something. What happens is one website writes something - then 5 more link to it.. so it must all of a sudden be true. I wish it worked that way."

If this really was John Smedley, I would tell him congragulations for running the most innovative MMO in history straight into the ground. Then I would ask him why he felt the need to destroy my profession (armorsmith) and nerf it into obsolescence. Finally, I would ask him where, pray tell, are the influx of new players that you used to justify your abandonment of your former player base? Because they are sure not on any of the servers. Oh wait, they're all on mustafar right? Gotcha. GL with your next job after you get canned from this one. (Hint Hint, practice saying: "For here or to go?)

God I wish he could read that.

God I wish he could read that.

Natty, if I were into e-lubbin, I'd ask you to have pixellated babies with me. I gave in to a bout of morbid curiousity today and had a little peek at my old galaxy's boards to find one of the new cantina queens trying to divert damage from the exploitation of the dancer class's soon-to-be combat status to afk-grind and respec to some other, so-called real combat class. I actually felt bad for her. Even after I had my ritual attack of hating her for clinging to the game as an ent despite having been renderred all but obsolete.

Then, in a fit of ultimate masochism, I popped over to read the gameplay boards. Wow, what a mess. I hadn't seen that level of hysteria since they released the NGE.

So how DO they justify having abandoned us?

They delete, they lock and then they change the subject.

Ignorance is bliss. I really don't understand, if the game is doing so well and everything is great why do you feel the need to constantly defend it. If everything was going so well you wouldn't have time to post here and be the Champion of SWG, because according to you the game is full of players and things to do. You're like a Thunderheart mini-me but you don't get paid. I really think you just do it to draw attention to yourself or just to go against the majority opinion and act like some spiteful little kid aka Wepps.

    No.

Personally I have prayed to god that Raph would leave SOE since they "promoted" him.  I kinda was starting to lose respect for the guy... Because I felt that they killed SWG the same way that EA .. totally trashed UO.

Yet instead of leaving like he did with EA he just seemed to sit in his office collecting checks... saying nothing.  So I guess he just waited for some contract to run out...

The reason I still answer "No" to you is..

Raph leaving isn't what you were posting about.  In that gamespot article you mention... They also state DESPITE various rumors the only which seems true is Raph leaving.

So why exactly should I believe anything else?

Your original post and your inside source who knew so much (that still isn't confirmed)...

Somehow didn't know this...  I somehow doubt that Raph leaving (if he has but it looks good) would be a more well hidden secret than a license retraction.

Guess your source from your other post just kinda missed what to me is bigger news that anything that goes with SWG.

SWG is already ruined... even if they closed it down the game *I* had won't be back.

Now Raph leaving could be good or bad but its a far bigger story to me.  Now if instead of his own company he ends up at either:

    1) Spacetime Studio's

    or

    2) Bio-Ware Austin

That would be huge.  Spacetime is the other previous OSI/SWG people also in Austin.

What I would find even funnier if he did go to Spacetime is they signed with NCSoft.

Back in 2002 SOE did a deal with NCSoft to run their asian EQ1 servers... that announcement is still on the station.com site lol.

Obviously going to BioWare would be big too... its just the fact that SOE had a former partnership with NCSoft that I find funny.

Of course we don't know much of anything yet.

Another reason Raph is the bigger story to me..

Anything we see with SWG is most likely going to follow the class/level design.. which I freakin hate.

Raph is a skill system guy and UO and SWG were the two mmo's I played the longest (as in active subscribtion with no breaks).  I get bored in class/level games so fast its mind boggling.

The only class game coming up that even interest me is Vanguard and that's due to player housing more than anything.
