Problems with keycode

So here is my problem. I bought the game today, used I'd say. So now the Product key is no good. Website offers no support. I saw something about getting an unofficial key code...but gave up on trying to find info about that.

Says I hafta buy a new cd, yet it's pretty hard to find AC2 on the shelves anymore. I was workin on d/l the free trial but figured it would be faster to buy it (slow con. take along time to d/l). So without key code am I pretty much uchard now for trying out the game? Or is there someway I can get another code without buyin a second CD set?

As it sits now I have game installed and updated, but can't play without Product key.

You need your own CD-Key to play AC2 after free trial is over. There is no point in buying used copy of the game because that CD-Key was already associated with another account and you can't use it again. You must get your own CD-Key which comes only with buying new game.

Ouch...that sucks. And atop of that, the free d/l I've been workin on has quit at 95%. So I guess it looks like I won't even be able to give this game a try.

But if you have bought used game you can still try free trial. Just install the game and create new hotmail account (this option appears when you start the game). You'll be able to play it for 15 days. After that you'll need CD-key to continue to play on that account.

Tried that...still wanted CD code...think free trial is only for d/l now...which is still stuck at 95%. Cannot communicate with server that has that last little bit for d/l.

UO, if you bought a real copy, there should be a cd key on it, call up the support number on the manual and tell them you bought the game but it says CD key has been used, they will issue you a new one if you can prove when you bought the game with a reciept.

Install game and make shortcut to it on your desktop. Right click on the shortcut and in "Properties>Target" add /trial after "c:...Launcher.exe" so it looks like that

    "C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesAsheron's Call 2Launcher.exe" /trial

You should be able to create trial account and try game for 2 weeks before you decide whether to buy it or not.

Hi, I have two original Asheron's Call 2 pc games that I recently purchased secondhand. I have sold one straight on and the buyer stated the cd key was already in use and asked how to go about re-activating it so they could play. Is there no way to de-activate the game from the original purchaser so when we buy a secondhand one, we can play it too? It's a stupid idea that everybody needs a brand new game with a new cd key to play.

Eventually, some players will get bored or not have time to play the game anymore and will not be able to sell their game on because the cd key has already been used. That's a crazy idea.

There's got to be a legal way to sell your used game and give somebody else the chance to play it with the same cd key in that the original purchaser used?

    Simon.

One CD-key can be associated with only one account. Simple as that.

It may sound stupid from the buyer's perspective but it sure sounds smart from developer's perspective.::;^)::
And I think it's the same in all MMORPGs. Correct me if I'm wrong.

To reactivate account you have to log in using .NET passport used when account was created first time. You can not create multiple account using same CD key that would be crazy idea. So when you sold the game you also sold account, you have to tell him your .NET email and passwords associated with that CD key to allow him to play.
