Yeah, went there just before last christmas. Got to the main gate and told security I was a fanboi who'd travelled all the way from tiny Denmark to see Mr. Lucas. After a few minutes of waiting I got in and was escorted to the audience hall. Mr. Lucas looked at me and said " all right, what the hell do you want!". I said I was a big fan and all and I'd always be grateful that he shared his visions witht the world, but that he had to cut SOE loose. I told him they were ruining his reputation. Next thing I knew security released the hounds. And when I say hounds I don't mean cute little puddles - I mean starved-to-insanity German shepherds.
3 days later after having been around the local ER, I drove up the Ranch again and this time I told security I was a SOE rep. I got into the audience hall once again and Mr. Lucas said " haven't I seen you before?" I hurriedly assured him that I was new at SOE and at the same time apologized that Smedley wasn't here to tell him in person what I was about to say. I told him we at the SOE just weren't cut out to handle the immense SW universe and that our continual fuckups had left SWG in shambles. He said " what the... I told you guys if there's any trouble release an expansion!"
OK So I take that as a "no" on people here getting the chance to go up there. Starved-to-Insanity German Shepherds eh? lol.
If you do get the chance though, the props warehouse for the older movies on Skywalker Ranch is definitely a must see. With a large amount of movies doing CGI for effects, you don't get too much props like models of the almost-constructed Death Star laying around.
Recently LFL just opened up offices on the Presido grounds. From what I remember, the area around the Presido was pleasant. Wouldn't be a bad place to work if you had a place to crash in San Francisco.
Doesn't help that they moved most of their operations to The Presidio now.

lol... yeah, Lucas probably doesn't take a direct hand in many of the licensed ventures which come from LFL/LA.
