I've seen Christians take alot of heat over the net, something like this was bound to happen. I remember in one gay parade a youth minister moved infront of the parade and, got on his knees started praying. I hope they do well and do double their numbers in the coming year.
Those aren't christians.
Oh sorry, I forgot Christians are an exclusive group.
Christians are people that follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. How are they doing that? Jesus went amongst the masses and talked of forgiveness and being non-judgemental of others. Ask those people who are protesting them being there if they feel like they aren't being judged and forgiven by those "christians".
I've seen a lot of those types of christians. They speak of how they love others. Well, I'll give you a recent example of how much love they have. Here in Texas we just had a vote for a proposition to put an amendment in our state constitution to ban gay marriage. Well, I went to vote that day. Standing in line I heard so many loving comments. There was a group of people there trying to get people to vote against it. The people who were voting for it had some intensely kind things to say. Like that "God hates those sick people". And "the best thing they could do is let us country folks take care of them."
I would trust a christian person to be a decent loving accepting and forgiving person. I wouldn't trust those people ever.

Your credibility is stretching thin, nobody talks like that in public especially in a poll line, people only talk like that anonymously on the internet.

I'll give you an unpredictable liberal cliche. I'm a Liberal and I LOVE JESUS. And JESUS LOVES ME!!!
Its a breath of fresh air, thanks.
Really, political chat degrades into cliches, not just on the internet but with the talking heads on TV. I DEMAND CHANGE! Are we just regurgitating what the talking heads on TV say?

Dude, I was there. There were people there talking to the people in line trying to explain their side of the election to the voters and as they went down handing out pamphlets, flyers, etc., that was a sample of some of the comments. Granted those two are worse that I heard, but even the less derogatory comments were pretty bad for a group of folks who are supposed to be loving and forgiving. Oh, and the country folks comment, that one came from a lady!
And if that wasn't bad enough, these people were calling into the radio stations in the area with all kinds of similar comments. The talk show host had to remind some people that the reason they were voting for it was because it went against family and "christian values." I guess they just didn't care to repeat the politically correct talking points they were told to rehearse.

Why don't you guys flip a coin?
A coin flip isn't necessary. Knowing when to use "you're" instead of "your" automatically makes me less ignorant.
Okay.
But I wonder what "ticket" he was talking about?
And sometimes lying is nice. Like when someone is really bad at sex but the other person tells them they're good because they love them anyways. That's very nice. I get told that all the time.

Originally posted by 9216544 There is nothing wrong with these values, but they are more similar to basic common sense that each human individual has. If you were to be raised never being exposed to religious ideas, I think you would still know what is more right and wrong. There's a quote I once saw on someones sig/quote panel here at MMORPG.com, "Common sense is no longer common."People that have a guidebook to life and morality can barely hold by it. People that don't even acknowledge any guidebook, would not even aspire to hold by it. People no longer do what's best. They do what feels best.
To begin with, this is an unrealistic situation. It would be very hard to put someone in a non social enviorment to conduct tests on them lol.
The reason I mentioned human values is because I think Christian rules are credited to a devine being and that were transcended onto earth in a super natural way. I'm not saying these good true laws do not have a devine presence to them, but I think rather that they are built into our heart and minds.
The reason people may do what is best for them, is because they are grown up into a selfish society that looks at quickness, business, money, stress, and working too hard in almost a positive way. People are grown up from childhood seeing their parents divorce, seeing money issues, seeing stress, etc. So obviously they don't want to feel these things when they are older. Maybe that is one reason why they can develop a more selfish attitude in the future.
But what about those good people that may or may not have a religion? The ones who are role model humans and always seem to either do whats right or admit to their wrong doing. If you can take examples of those people then you can see that not everyone is so bad after all. If only a few can become better people then maybe more people can eventually head in that direction if taken the right steps and actions.
And for as brilliant people are, I do not think they need a "guidebook" to tell them what to do. What would you say about the ignorant illiterate people? Oh for those someone would just tell them what is right and wrong according to THEIR religion, in hopes to give them some hope and direct one more person into that religion.
Believe me, I am not saying Christianity is wrong, but I think that the human perspective on it might be a little off. If the bible has been rewritten thousands of time by scholars, some of which who are good, some bad, then how can we say that the bible is TRUE? But the response I hear so often is that "God's word will never change". And when I bring up a specific case in which one canon contradicts another, then even the most intellectual Christian seems to avoid the question. I've yet to hear and anwser and I am eager for that to happen.
The idea that "People no longer do what is best", is exactly what I mean when we all think that we are headed in a bad direction. I guess that gives some people an excuse to do wrong or not bother helping others since they are doomed anyways.

Um, in the court of public opinion it is rare to find anyone who debates "honestly". If you refuse to believe those who are opposing you politically can never be honest you will never see when they are being honest. Congrats on being a good mindless follower. The politicians just love people like ewe.
Personally I refuse to accept things blindly even from those I endorse. It isn't to hard to check around a bit to see what a person is really being truthful or not. If you find something odd, dig more...if not /cheer.
Interesting fact:
The "Founding Fathers" were not self declared Christians. They declared themselves transandentalists(sp?) and humanists. Why? Because of their belief that theocracies and monarchies were equally bad goverments. This myth that the founders of the USA were christian has been around for a long time with no basis (although there were some who declared themselves christian under colonial rule out of necessity in that era, but declared themselves humanist/transandentalist post revolt). They were almost all born into christian families, but that does not a faith make. They refused to align themsleves for any reason politically, maybe there was a reason for this that modern politicians should consider...

Nerf09, you should really give up on the political mindreading. I'm no Democrat. I'm part of a political party that believes in absolute equality, liberty, the least government involvement possible, total personal freedoms, and the promise of the pursuit of happiness. It's called the Libertarian party. Not your neo-con, big government, huge spending, invasive party.
We don't take part in your liberal vs conservative party. We're sick of both of y'all. The only difference between you two is how you throw the weight of government around.
Libertarians believe that you have the right to live your life as you wish, without the government interfering -- as long as you dont violate the rights of others. Politically, this means Libertarians favor rolling back the size and cost of government, and eliminating laws that stifle the economy and control peoples personal choices.
Are Libertarians liberal or conservative?
Libertarians are neither. Unlike liberals or conservatives, Libertarians advocate a high degree of both personal and economic liberty. For example, Libertarians agree with conservatives about freedom in economic matters, so we're in favor of lowering taxes, slashing bureaucratic regulation of business, and charitable -- rather than government -- welfare. But Libertarians also agree with liberals on personal tolerance, so we're in favor of peoples right to choose their own personal habits and lifestyles.
In a sense, Libertarians borrow from both sides to come up with a logical and consistent whole -- but without the exceptions and broken promises of Republican and Democratic politicians. That's why we call ourselves the Party of Principle.

well i was reading the previous post by...well i can't think of his name on the top of my head but i would like some input on this. i have read the bible front and back and you are right, it doesn't say god didn't judge anyone, if anything he judged everyone based on their decisions and beleifs in the so called "bible". 2 If any one bring an accusation against a man, and the accused go to the river and leap into the river, if he sink in the river his accuser shall take possession of his house. 3 If any one bring an accusation of any crime before the elders, and does not prove what he has charged, he shall, if it be a capital offense charged, be put to death.
4 If he satisfy the elders to impose a fine of grain or money, he shall receive the fine that the action produces.
5 If a judge try a case, reach a decision, and present his judgment in writing; if later error shall appear in his decision, and it be through his own fault, then he shall pay twelve times the fine set by him in the case, and he shall be publicly removed from the judge's bench, and never again shall he sit there to render judgement.

Our laws are not based on judeo crhistian anything. Read leviticus and tell me what part of that translates to modern law. It doesn't. The constitution was not founded on any religion. It's based on free thinking radicals such as benjamin franklin and thomas jefferson. Take your right wing propaganda machine and preach to the less educated. we here at mmorpg.com have more than 2 brain cells. I don't recall christ or anyone else in the bible referring criminals to a jury of peers. I don't recall christ, muhammed, moses or any other religious figure stating we should log up drug offenders. Get over it already. Live free and die free. Our right to bear arms is based on our right to revolt. It's our duty as americans to secure our freedoms. Benjamin franklin knew that some times the only way to remain free is by the end of a gun. Even though he himself never picked up a weapon he did see to it that those who were willing to fight and die for their belief retained the ability to wage revolution.

No, I'm not a Bible scholar. As a matter of fact, I'm not sure if I could ever be a Bible scholar because I admittedly find the Bible very confusing. Even Bible scholars themselves disagree on what a lot of it means.
But even if the Bible doesn't say it I've found in life that there are times when I have thought I understand someone only to be in their situation later in life and realize I had no idea what they were going through. That's why I try to just simply follow the golden rule. It works really well. And if I don't understand why someone does something or thinks a certain way, then I chalk it up to just that. I just don't understand them. Period. How could I possibly begin to judge someone I don't understand?
I did a quick Bible search on judgement and found some of these. Like I said, I'm not Bible scholar, so don't even expect me to back these up. They just seem like they are pointing to the argument of putting your personal bias and pride aside and not being judgemental of others.
Matthew 7:1 Do not judge and criticize and condemn others, so that you may not be judged and criticized and condemned yourselves.
Luke 6:37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven."

I hope you reconsider your thoughts about christianity. The reason I say this is because there is a growing number of Bible scholars telling the truth about what the Bible says when it comes to homosexuality. Condemnation of gays is not the word of God or Jesus.
If you want to know the truth then here is a good example. There are also a fast growing number of churches that are beginning to get the true word out. It seems that good can conquer evil.
Hmmm what is right? What is wrong? Who decides? Each individual? Each country? Each family?
The Word of God for christians is and should be the only norm for finding out God's Will. No other place is reliable. The Law of God on sin is plain to read.
NIV Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-- his eternal power and divine nature-- have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. 24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator-- who is forever praised. Amen. 26 Because of this, God gave them over to shamefullusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. 28 Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
NIV Romans 2:1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
Just wanted to quote the Word of God because I saw a few posts that contradicted the simple words.

I get told that all the time.

porgie is probably telling the truth. I live in Florida, and my city is actually on the map as a KKK haven. I've heard some interesting things on voting lines.
Lol, you just spun off in a whole different realm. There's not much you're trusting them with, you're not giving them your person al data all they want is you to speak out if you don't like the corrupt secular media.
Professor Hubert Farnsworth - That question is less stupid but, you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.
Maybe you're the ignorant one.
U should B happy I dont talk like this.
I know how "you're" is spelled, but the internet has made me lazy. You know someone fails in an arguement when they start spellchecking. Socialists usually do that, since socialists never had an arguement in the first place.

Here, enlighten yourself. http://www.lp.org
What is a Libertarian?

I think Phoenix was referring to their ideology and politics. These people would not even think of standing in the way of the U.S. becoming a big flaming theocracy. As a matter of fact, I don't think anything would make them happier.
I guess then the conservatives could have their dream come true...

It's ok for people to protest... even if I think they are crack pots. It's part of the freedom of speech we're so proud to tell everyone about Just be glad they have the right to do it.

Huh? Since when did anyone say they had no right to protest. I pray to God they do. So that people can see how idiotic they are. I don't want them to shut up. I love it when these fundamentalist conservative "christians" talk. It makes the world see how crazy they are.

With all respect porgie, have you ever read the gospels? It is not as fluffy as political minds make it to be. On numerous occassions, Christ was quite judgmental of others. Everyone needs to think this whole "don't judge" ideal. Life becomes a free for all. Because if one group of people can use the dont judge us mantra for their agenda, everyone will use to the their own end. I could be wrong, but someone please show me where Christ says to be non-judgmental of others. Little proof never hurt anyone...ask OJ. do'h
hello,
well i was reading the previous post by...well i can't think of his name on the top of my head but i would like some input on this. i have read the bible front and back and you are right, it doesn't say god didn't judge anyone, if anything he judged everyone based on their decisions and beleifs in the so called "bible". To justify that judging someone or something is ok however is completely rude. i mean just because god did it doesn't mean you have to or just because god didn't say so means that you have or dont have to do it. Judging people shouldn't exhist, it should at least be some mental moral for everyone that exhists to not judge people. As the saying goes, "don't judge a book by its cover." just because someone is gay doesn't mean they are dirty or wrong. Thats like saying if someone doesn't like hamburgers(girls) that they shouldn't deserve civil rights or the right to live for that matter. Justification based on religion shouldn't be a factor in anyones life. I do feel bad that you are justifying a reason to judge people because of god, that isn't even what the christian religion teaches you anyway. i was a chrisitian for 10 years. i am not religious now, more of an aethiest mainly because of the beleifs people have and their assanine logic and/or rules they set for themselves and their religion. I think gays should be able to marry just like anyone else. i have no gay friends, i'm not gay i have no gay relatives but that is a civil right just like everyone else to marry regardless of the sexual preference. So please, think before you judge and try not to judge period, at least talk to them, get to know them first before you make a mental decision on if you like them or not, thank you for reading/listening to this post...

Make a difference!

Matthew 7:1
Do not judge and criticize and condemn others, so that you may not be judged and criticized and condemned yourselves.
Luke 6:37
