Got Uru bundled with my graphic card. Was bit disapointed when i found out Uru live is/was never functional.
Actually I was quite curious how could they make mmorpg adventure game (especially myst like adventure game). Still I dont think it will ever happen ...

Well... it's not like Uru Live is back... yet. Cyan and fans are cautiously optimistic... but still no news about the "full fledged renewal" the funder is pending about. This would probably mean a new engine, new client and so on, too (speculation).

First off I'm a huge Myst fan, own all of the games, including Uru: Complete Chronicles. You can find the game at most Wal-Mart stores for $10 now (the jewel-case version, not boxed), for those interested, that's where I got mine.
Last time I looked into it six months ago, while Until Uru was free to play, there was a small fee (~$7.50 I think) you had to pay to get a key that allowed you to make an account. Is this still true? On the FAQ you provided I saw mention of getting some kind of key by invite, though it didn't say what the key was for.
What is the normal population of the servers, and what is there to do? I believe the premise of the game is socializing and group exploration, but after 2 years without updates (the expansions were for the single player game only, not the MMO) what is left? How long does the existing content (as far as exploration goes) last for someone just joining? How easy is it to meet other people?
Apparently there is some small potential for Uru Live to come back, that's great! Though after the difficulties that Cyan has had lately, barely making it through last year by the skin of their teeth, I think its not very likely. We will be lucky enough when they get around to roll out their next title, MMO or not. edit: OK, just read the news from Rand Miller, so it seems Uru has a better chance of comming back than I thought! With the Myst saga supposedly finished (story wise at least), I'm curious what it may be. I'm guessing it will be in a new direction, but hopefully Cyan won't give in and show that the age of the quality adventure game is over.
My heart just skipped a beat reading that news article. I thought Cyan had totally bitten the dust last year, and with now the prospect of the live portion of Uru being more than just a dream, I'm doubly chuffed.
Nope, Uru goes back to a Sumerian word, it has several meanings like "city" or "gathering"... also it means "you are you" (referring to the player). There's no people in there called "Uru", it's basically about the D'ni and the Bahro, but who knows what the future may bring.
There is no battle though, except for those mentioned in stories told, it's a non-violent game.
Well, it looks like the "real thing" (e.g. UruLive) will launch later this year, brought to us by Gametap / Turner and developped by Cyan. Beta starts this summer.
I am totally exited about it.

How to play? I have been a fan of the Uru series and saw that the Uru MMO was cancelled. Is it back?

Just a few questions,

Go Go Cyan!
So in this game, do the Uru's battle the Skeksis'?
Obscure reference?
Oh, I loved that movie

Uru is an innovative MMORPG if ever there was one...no HP/stats, no skill levels, no killing stuff...
