Hello to every one that reads this in hopes of some new info on the old game we all loved and lost.
I started SWG as my first MMO in Nov 04 so yes I can say I am a vet. I had quit when the CU hit but missed the game and came back.
I never cared for the Level based class crap of the CU and thought that was the end of it all. How wrong i coud be. When the NGE hit I played for about 3 days and was heart broken to see the game that I had loved turn to a shell of the game it was and with the 2 expantions that were more quests (as which I hate quests) I missed the old sandbox that I had played in.
If you wonder I don't post in the fourms but I do read them to try to see if there will be any change to the game that would make me want to get my 9 accounts back on, yes thats right I had 9 accounts that all went off because of the NGE.
I was looking at the Lucasarts page for news of the game and always looking at all the rumors to see what might be truth or not.
Thr odd thing I found on the offical site for the game on Lucasarts.com was the old CU information and nothing about the Obwan expantion.
I'm not trying to spread any rumors but it jsut didn't make any sence why that was back on the site.
Here is the link to go look for your self.

And yes I know if you hit the buy now it brings up the Starter Kit crap from there store.
PS if you have noting to say on this topic then don't this is not a class for spelling or gramer and if thats all you can say shut the hell up.

Just opening up that flash and hearing the music made me cry.
Someone should really file a temporary injunction against Lucas for false advertising.
The whole flashfile there is Pre-CU, talking about player-training (apprentice funtions are not ingame since long) and trainers generally and so much more pre-cu stuff.
This is clearly engaging in unfair competition and should be filed.

This is indeed an interesting legal matter.
A while back graphics card manufacturer (ATI, IIRC) found themself under legal pressure for advertising support for certain DRM features, which were proven to not be supported. As it turns out, the support was planned, but was never implemented. Despite that, the advertising went through claiming full support.
Now, this could all be downgraded to simple 'dated' or 'obsolete' ad, that hasn't been updated or removed, but then again, the name and the context applies to actual SWG.
With most products, versions and labels are added to distinguish between various features. Even if a graphics card has some "strange" features (for example, underclocked 9800 pro sold as regular 9800, or even some other model, i forget which one exactly), it's a different label and different product, clearly distinguishing it for the lifespan of the product.
With that in mind, the changes made to MMO raise an interesting question. While the EULA itself (applies to account holder only) does warn about changes to the product, the marketing and label is not subject to any such term. While impossible to compare, due to no precedent, it is illegal to advertise a Ford SUV x-5, which has in mean-time been changed into a two-seater sports car. Even if the change is performed for business reasons, the new model cannot bear the same name.
Interesting indeed, it would, at the very least, make a nice legal excercise for a law student.
Its just disgusting to see that page and the old game we loved. The music brought back memories of a packed C-Net that was almost completly empty after they screwed the game up so much. Definately false advertising and then the question comes up of perhaps its an old page....but why then would it take you to a page to purchase their stupid starter kit. Its possible that the adress is that same as it used to be as far as the coding of pages go but after all of the underhanded things these companies have done its still hard to believe.
I had a master creature handler and continued to play the game even though it was not the same. Then they told us lies about being able to get this fantastic MCH item off of Mustafar. Right after the release they stated they are going NGE and that means no CH at all. Several people filed complaints and they actually were forced to refund our money for their lie of an expansion. I do miss the game and even if it did come back as it used to be I know it would be hard to play again. I am sure I would but it would always be in the back of my mind, "When are they going to screw us over again."
Wish $OE would get their heads out of their rectums and give us our game back.

Very sad, the most emmersive game I have played to date. It also had a great community , better than most any other game Ive played. Constatnly intereacted with hundreds upon hundereds of people.
I left way before the CU mainly because they refused to balance proffessions and get rid of bugs before pressing content. But I finally made my way to WOW....its nice , I like it but it isnt as immersive as SWG had been nor does it have many things to do otehr than kill kill kill. There just istn much in between which SWG was good for.
....oh well
bah,
web people at LA are lazy. has the old base proffesions, non expanion player races and the faq is WAY out of date.
I wish some lawyer that woke up to a very bad day woudl see this buy the game then sue for false advertising.
They need to be at least honest aobut what is in the game now, they have had 5 months to update the site.
love the music and pre-trainwreck stuff.
