Interesting thread Stumbled in here by accident and decided to have a read....
I'll paraphrase my statement when the guy from MMOCENTER first appeared here on the forums about a year or so ago:
"Looks like vaporware to me, come back when you have a playable beta"
Typical small indie company attempting WAY too much WAY too early. And charging for a pre-order to get into the Beta just stinks to high heaven. Every game that's pulled THAT particular rabbit out of the hat has sucked. What's even worse are the idiots that keep doing it.
Them: "I pre ordered so I'll get in the beta early for sure!!!!! muahahaha" Them Later: "Man I can't get my money back! The game isn't even in beta yet and it's been months".
Rule 1: Never Pre-Order unless you have already PLAYED (<--- Note the past tense folks!!!) the game and know you'll like it.

Should have learnt my lesson after Scam Assault but now Im still chasing up my refund....
These guys are crooks man - not a word of beta and they refuse to give refunds, even SOE gives refunds on pre orders!

Have you tried refuting the charges with your credit card company?
The reason you preordered was based on receiving the product by a certain deadline and they have not met that deadline so you are entitled to a refund legally. They are committing fraud.
You can also try reporting them to the FBI internet fraud website.

Actually, it's all the things you don't see or hear that have killed this game. Ask to see screenshots, videos of gameplay, etc. that are less than a year old and you will get standard responses of "Why do you feel you need proof?" and "If you don't like it, leave.", as well as "What makes you think, just because you paid money for a pre-order with the understanding the game was just around the corner over a year ago, that you are entitled to information such as if/when the game is coming out."
The kid running the show at RR needs to stop partying, refund all the pre-orders, shut down production, and go back to school for business management as well as social studies. Because he can neither run a business nor understand how to deal with people.
I was one of the sad few who pre-ordered and guess what? STILL no news! Nothing solid in nearly a YEAR now. Not even a "Going out of Business" sign. They still claim all is well...yeah...sure it is.
You need to get in contact with a bunch of other pre-orders and contact a lawyer to review your options. There is definite law-suit potential.
Chances are that a letter sent by a law firm to both MMO Center and to Africast (or whatever the joint venture company is that is doing Africa with them) will shake things up enough to make them release some sort of info.
The responsible older Africast company will not want the gamers putting out their game to lose their studio due to a lawsuit or waste time dealing with that so they will put pressure on the tiny Atlanta based company to have better P.R. in regards to chronicle....and if the game is cancelled there is a definite lawsuit potential for a company that takes money for one product and uses it toward another item that the individual is not going to receive.
If all the people that have been complaining on here about their pre-order would complain in the right direction....maybe we would see things happpen.
I wouldn't doubt that at some point in the game they just kinda stalled on development because it got tough and was hoping that some big company would come along and buy them out and take over their projects....leaving them to focus on their Africa game....
They're just one more half-assed "developer" who wanted to run with the big dogs but found out they were just mutts pissing in their own yard. I would hope that they would be able to find someone competent to buy them out just so the game people paid for gets made. These guys just joined the DnL and Mourning devs as any project with their names on it will be ignored in the future.

Cienna was the only other person (then CeaserGhost) from RR that had much contact with the community boards. She had become frustrated with the negative view of the community about Rapid Reality. She deleted some of her posts and stopped posting on the forums and shortly there after was no longer with Rapid Reality. Not sure if she left or was let go.

she bacame 'frustrated' and very abusive to customers about..oh an hour after she showed up.
i paid to be in beta like a year+ ago i cant even remember how long ago it was, n have no interest at all with this game as no progress has been made and the game was suppose to go in to beta testing more than 9 months ago.
tbh it seems it was just a gimmick to rip ppl off and wouldnt trust rr with my time and money no more...
may it be a lesson to all never pay to beta test only pay to beta if its from a shop with a boxset least then u can get your money back
sick of these fag studios makin games to just cash in and not even releasin a game or releasin a poor version of what they said they was gonna produce. Another Archlord Online ere!
