Ok. It's been about 8 years since these games have been out and about 2years I've been on these boards. Ano, of the hundred or so games that are currently out, which of them would you deem to be worthy of your monthly fee and is suited to your tastes? Because from what I've seen, you seem to dislike every single game that is in current release  and every game that is in current production except an UNNAMED game being produced by Bioware which may or may not release within the next 4 years.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

What I don't get is why they need an entire class for bartering with vendors and stuff. Why not just simply add features in the game that will allow players to start conversations with NPC's that can possibly lower or, if they tick the vendor off, raise the price? The idea of no PvP servers for launch will really hurt the sales at release.

I'll watch this one, they say limited solo but if they make diplomats/crafters/maybe thieves solo to build then needed on raids, arming etc by groups that would be a really nice balance. I have no problem needing/wanting to group for big events, it's the day to day building that I don't want to have to find full groups to achieve.

Agreed. Especialy about the "If you like to solo, go play elsewhere" part.

The ONE thing I hated the most of EQ is running around in circles, LFG. If I tried to make a group, usually took so long trying to fill the "Holy Trinity" necessary for a decent group that the players I already invited start leaving and the group breaks up and I log out frustrated to all heck.

No thanks, not again thank you.

If you like to solo, go play WoW for 59 levels. Better yet, play Oblivion, it's 100% solo and a great game! We who like to group and co-operate will miss you, but we'll get by.

Intertesting, I guess in any forum I post in, there is going to be idiotic trolls that spout stupidity, instead of addressing any concerns I posted.

I never said I didnt like groups or hated cooperating with others, you twit.

I said I hated running around in circles for hours trying to find or create a group.

I like the option of being able to soloing effectivly when grouping is not an option due to the time of day or night due to low population levels.

So yes, most likely they will be doing without my monthly subscription, but that is thier loss.

Soloers have your cupcake games. This game will be for true mmo lovers and hardcore players. No instancing + harsh death penalty = good thing. Hundreds of soloers who don't care to group playing a massive MULTIPLAYER online game = bad thing. And whoever said this will be like DDO you're completely retarded, take a better look and get back to me.

imo, looks pretty good but if they don't put pvp in I don't think it will attract as many users.

I'm an old EQ fan and am looking to Vanguard to address some of EQ's failings: 1. End game = raid content. Booooorrrrrrinnnnnggg! As much as it pains me to admit, I agree with Ano vis-a-vis MMORPGs in desperate need of a paradigmatic shift away from raiding as end game content. 2. Each expansion pack after SoL killed off more and more prior ingame content 3. MMORPG inflation with bigger and better (and greater % drop frequency) with each expansion. I do have a degree of confidence in Brad McQuaid & co to address these issues.

As for player interdependence in the form of Diplomats, I'm skeptical. This could easily fall flat in implementation i.e. "Great! We need a Diplomat to enter x dungeon. Ok, do your thing, player y then get outta here!". Once the Diplomat player has performed his or her Grima Wormtongue role, then what? I'm concerned that the Diplomats could be a one-trick pony with ZERO usage in the wider game beyond acting as a Thief to unpick a lock.

I like the idea of Diplomats, especially if faction is enhanced and improved upon from its EQ incarnation, but from the little that has been released I see nothing inherently different conceptually than them [Diplomats] representing a key to a lock [a particular mob].

A lot of these ideas sound 'cool' in a brain-storming session, but start to look less impressive when you start to think them through and add more detail. I like what Vanguard are trying to do by creating a interdepedence between players who have vastly differing playing styles and roles within the game, but I just don't think it will work in execution.

That said, I'm sure that I read somewhere in the FAQ that the Devs will be willing to try new ideas, and if they plainly do not work, then either modify or remove them.

Just don't pull a SoL [Shadows of Luclin] on me. That's all I ask.

"If you think I'm plucky and scrappy and all I need is love, you're in way over your head. I don't have a heart of gold or get nice. There are a lot nicer people coming up. We call them losers."

Reading comprehension  is your friend. Learn it.

I LOVE to group with others, I wouldnt play this type of game otherwise. There is nothing in my post that even suggests that I didnt like to group with other players.

What I said was, sometimes, for one reason or another, getting or creating a group is rather difficult.

What primarily killed my fun with EQ, was running around in circles, bored to death, with my LFG tag on and yelling "Lvl 60 Rogue LFG PST!!"

Groups are fun. 100% dependence on groups, not so fun.

NO thanks i have had enough of that with DDO.

    QFT.

V:SoH devs, designers, and suits better wake up and smell the coffee.  For *any* MMORPG to succeed now (post-WoW), it has to be fun for *everyone* ; not just fun for a few niche hardcore types.

I've played UO, EQ, AO, DAoC, WOW, EQII, and EVE in that order.  Right now, I play none and await the release of this one.  Although I love to group, I like to solo once in a while.  I like to craft, and I like PvP once in a while.  Forget about what they say at this stage.  One thing I have observed over the years is that these games are evolving entities.  They tend to be very different a year after release than they were at release.  Just because they say there is practically no solo content now, does not mean they will not modify that over time.  Nothing is written in stone and the developer will tweak and adjust content depending on the wants of the player base and the evolution of the game.  You can bet your money on that.  Players will determine what diplomacy will be like and things will be added and/or removed as the game evolves just like all other content.  Its best to judge a game one year after release than during the beta stage, and I intend to do just that.   I will give it a shot, and who knows, maybe Ill play it for 5+ years like I did DAoC.  The beauty of it all is that if you don't like it you can always walk away because there is always another game in beta that will suit you better....or not.  I guess what Im saying is its too soon to tell.  If the game sounds interesting to you, play it then judge.

    Just my 2 cents.
