Blizzards Katricia the community person has stated in a post on the forums today that the beta signups will begin this month, "Lastly, we would like to announce that sign-ups for the World of Warcraft Beta test will begin at the end of this month. Stay tuned to www.blizzard.com for further details. "

Also they have made a statement about the leaked alpha
"As many of you know, we are currently conducting an internal Alpha test for World of Warcraft. Our goal for this Alpha test is to provide the best possible experience for players when the Beta launches in early 2004.

In order to accelerate the testing process, we recently allowed a small group of external testers to play the game. During this process, a collection of files was leaked to the Internet. While these files contain alpha content from the game, they are not fully playable and therefore do not convey the experience that World of Warcraft will provide when it is released.

We are currently investigating this matter and will take serious action against those involved.

As always, we appreciate the interest and enthusiasm that players around the world have for World of Warcraft, and we look forward to delivering a massively multiplayer game unlike any you have ever experienced. Until then, we ask that you refrain from sharing any content that doesn't come directly from Blizzard Entertainment."

Hum, looks like some are in alittle trouble about leaking information.  All in all, sounds like they are trying to get the beta going.  Good luck to those that make it in.

You know what they should do? Go straight to open beta just to annoy those people that wasted their time gettin the leaked alpha and the people who did the programming for the server at warforge. Oh did i mention to make me really happy aswell ?

Yeah I agree. From official fan reports (not leaked material didn't even hear about until they released it) they are way more complete than any game

shouldnt this be in the wow board??? meh... ya im looking forward to the beta and ill defiantly sign up if i can, WoW will hopefully b as good as it looks (which is AWESOME)

How's it not justice? I'm sure the post is honoured to be able to sit amoung other fine topics in the pub forum! much more respectible than the WoW Forums, no1 even goes there these days, it'd get lonely!

out of all the game forums WoW has the most activity (i think correct me if im wrong) and if more post go there.... more activity will be a result!

I ain't gonna go look at all the forums to check that but what i did look at was this. On the first page of topics on the WoW forum the dates are from the 15th of december till today..... can't really say thats very active at all.

I assume once it goes into beta and it is released then more people will be posting...i just hope it doesn't  turn into what the blizzard WoW forum is like.... that's just horrible.

On a scale of 1 to 10 i'll say 2,
Why it gets 2 points is because there is SOME though very limited ammount of info on it, to whom we must thank GF and KAT.
Now the reasons why it loses 8 point, Well thats just because of all the newbie useless spam there, every 3rd topic is asking whens the beta start? every 4th is how can i sign up for the beta? And other than that theres just a load of totally unrelated crap!, personally i think they forgot to make a seperate spam forum is the problem. Even looking now there are like 10 diff topics about the beta message, really WHAT IS THERE TO SAY? surely everything was awnsered in Kat's msg, and if there are any Q's why arnt they in the replys for it? If i had one of my Blizzard cd keys around i'd be the first to go in there n tell em to shut up.
