To reinforce rilkenaar's comments - The role of mana fountains is to define the Dark and Light territories. If you are not in range of a mana fountian controled by your alignment your character is seriously weakened. This means that most PvP will occur in the border regions making it safe for non-fighting characters in the rear areas. So conquering territory will mean first conquering a string of mana fountains and this adds a lot of strategy to clan vs. clan wars. Even non PvP players will support the PvP players on the border in order to keep their territories safe.
Clans can hire NPC characters to defend their assets. No guards exist in a border region unless they are hired by the players themselves. Dark and Light has no permanent developer defined safe zones except for the starter cities.
Also one item may be stolen from a player kill but the exact rules are not final. The developers want to find a good balance to promote PvP without the ganking. Also they have stated that you will gain skill points for player kills just like you do for MOB kills.
dis will be one of the best games out there...who knows it might be better than WoW... the pvp wont just be hack n slash. like sum other ppl said, it requires strategy. just assulting would just be a massacre. taking out the mana fountains and slowly advancing would be more strategic. pvp that requires strategy, can it get better?
not only that but you dont need to go into pvp if u dont want to. u can take a career thats like merchant, or sumthing else, not just characters that revolves around fighting.

It better... or I won't be there; it should at LEAST be open PvP similar to AC's Darktide server. FFA is the only way to stay on the edge of your seat.
AC's Darktide server is the worst example of PvP. A lvl 50+ player killing 5 lvl 10 players with one shot and not being punished in any way Darktide is not a PvP server but a sanctuary for frustrated ppl (mostly kids) who can't cope with RL
Don't get me wrong; I'm not against KvK or PvP. But killing ppl without being punished in some way is really bad for server or game in general. Darktide has about 100 ppl online in prime time.
But PvP game that punishes PKers has great potential. Wanted list in D&L sounds great. Now they must think of good reward for those bounty hunters

There is pvp between both kingdoms right, it is fight for controling land, fortress and mana fountains, there is however code of honor that dont allow free killing low lvl chars by high lvl one, the drawbacks of such actions is very sewere, become a wanted and losing social points. Social points is really needed if you don`t want to be a single outlaw that can`t show nowhere to not be slaughtered on sight. Furthermore there are 2 starting kingdoms (WHOLE KINGDOMS) that have pvp disabled you know what size is a kingdom? Its bigger that whole map in many games so you con`t call it newbie area. You could think about it like non pvp servers with free move to pvp if you want. And one more important thing, when game will evolve land wil be conquered, there will be created a war zone between two major powers, if you think that you as a dark for example could venture deeply into enemy teritory you either are great scout or stupid, either case it is like suicidal mission, so pvp will greatly ocure on front line, if you don`t want pvp stay clear from theses battle zones, you will get real great (40000km^2) land to do it, if you want you could don`t even meet other players for a looong time (days, even weeks maybe), its not light all those many servers based games where you could be killed everywhere simply as venturing from one side to another is relatively short trip, and even when you manage to slip to another faction land and start to attack caravans with friends from your faction you think that peoples that control this land will don`t do anything? You will be chased animal and you will be eventually killed. This pvp system if they don`t screw something (from what i read i don`t think it will happen) will be brillant. PvE for those who want, pure pvp for those who want pvp and mix for those that want to do diffrent things. More important thing is that you cant drop equiped items and only gold could be loted from your body in pvp (i dont say here about caravans tat could be completly looted) so even when you die in combat it isn`t so severe kick in ass, great kick in ass is losing controlled land and developed cities/fortress, but this is for very high lvl players or even clans...
People dont have to worry about there being no random attacks. Like stated above me there will be points your side will want to keep. From there it will be a full outsdeige warfare and attack enemy when u see em. I agree there should be a 3rd side the 'outlaws' where you can attack all and anyopne can attack you. It would be fun

for stealing , it will be possible but not on all players !
i mean that a light could steal a dark and vice versa . but a light couldnt steal another light ...

The game looks very good 'on paper'. If they manage to implement all things they promissed and balance them well I believe this game could be great.
