It has such a fantastic company behind it. They are always listening to their players and make the fixes that are necessary. For example, there was a post about how a player wanted to have dual-wield slots on his hotbar and what do you know? Today, Turbine released a list of only SOME of the fixes in their new module update and his dual-wield is on there along with numerous other things. They really listened to their community more than any other company. It is amazing. I really didn' t expect this much:
http://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21545 (did I mention thats only SOME of the update) This is well worth fifteen bucks if they are going to add new content and update stuff this efficiently. Go to the official DDO board for more information.

You mean the dual weild key that should have been in the alpha version of the game?
When the players are simply asking for basic functionality and bug-fixes, its not a big deal that they listen. How low must your expectations of an MMO be to be impressed that they are fixing stuff that has been broken since before release?
BTW, its not cool to post under a fake name Ken Troop.
Regarding the other changes... yes, it's good they are finally getting to those bugs. Just goes to support my theory that the game will be a lot more balanced and enjoyable after Turbine has a few dozen major patches behind them.
It was a joke. Try googling his name.
First off, you are obviously not a player of Turbine games such as AC1 and the now dead AC2... This is typical Turbine stuff. List a lot of stuff that should have been fixed before to make it look like they are really doing a lot.
Plus, if you notice... Almost everything listed is a fix for something broke, or a nerf of something. Where is the list of new content that is going to be in the update module? If they follow their usual thing, they won't post much if anything to do with the new content.
And as was posted before, this is not really efficient, since most have been known a long time.

But then again, what do you expect from a company that make games of dubious quality such AC2 and DDO.
It won't suceed because it didn't grab teh D&D market, the hardcore MMO market, nor the casual MMO market. That is all really.
It is too forced and narrow minded for the D&D market. The Hardcore gamer can blow through it with a few friends. The casual player is already complaining on various forums that they can't find a group to finish a goal.
The guy likes the game and how the company is performing. Why do people feel the need to act like a big shot on the internet and rag on a game in every thread that praises it? I don't mean once or twice, but consistantly coming back to a games forum and crapping all over it. And why do I feel the need to jump in and defend the guys right to liking whatever game he wants? Cuz there's too many @$$holes in this thread, need to even it out a bit.
As for why disgruntled former players keep coming back to this forum, well it's simple. First of all there is an alturistic reason. We don't want new players going into the game without knowing what they are getting into. Second, we paid a lot of money to play a game that didn't live up to its potential, so we have good reason to be a little bitter.
I agree with you that the game will be better in a few months after Turbine adds content and fixes some bugs. In fact, if you read my review of the game (it's buried in this forum somewhere) you'll see I suggest waiting a full year before joining the game.
The simple fact of the matter is that DDO was released prematurely. As consumers we have two choices. We can either pay Turbine $15/month while we wait for them to add content and fix bugs, or we can pay them $0/month while we wait for them to add content and fix bugs. For me, the choice was clear.
They will still be saying in a years time "Its only a year old. (Insert other MMO here) Was bad at one year too!!one!11eleven!!11"
These brain-dead idiots of low intelligence and blind devotion will always make excuses for rotten games, thereby allowing companies to keep bending them over because they will just ask for more.
Fanboys are stupid, and don't deserve oxigen like the rest of us. they are detrimental to any game, as they see nothing but "The game is perfect<stick fingers in ears> and cry and wail when those of us who are smart bring up how bad the game is in every way. They don't value their money, the game, or open-mindedness. Sad, pathetic little kids who feel their world explode when the love of their life is called to the carpet for being terrible.
DDO is a rotten, stupid, horrible bug-riddled game from start to finish(Two weeks if you play slow).
They won't admit that though, they can't. The Fanboys will accept nothing but absolute devotion to their game, step over their own mothers to play it and defend it from people who are not blind.
The game's sales have tanked, the servers are barren, the community is made up of nothing but these drooling blind idiots who attack anyone who dares point out the glaring flaws.
All fanboys(of this game in particular) should be shot and pissed on.
"name one mmorpg that ever released complete"...
Well honestly WoW was in open beta and had more content then ddo does now...
what people have to realize is, you CANT release a half finished game at release, because you aren't competing vs half completed games. Your competing vs full games. World of Warcraft right now is in great condition. DDO now isn't. You can't compare ddo to wow at release because wow has already been released. Same for eq2, coh/cov, daoc, whatever mmorpg you want to name.
and yes if the forum just had good comments about the game, alot of people will be persuaded to join the game....I was, and I don't want to see people falling in the same boat. Don't mean to sound offensive towards the game or your opinion, just ddo could have been better, not just because of solo. the actual content, and gameplay of the game is just substandard.
C'mon anarchy, you know that's garbage!! Just off the top of my head, two of the MMOs released most recently both shipped complete, Guild Wars and World of Warcraft. Guild Wars was TOTALLY complete, not one major change in that game for months after release, and no one complaining (apart from some, who never give specific reasons, who "didn't like it"). WoW had a few server load problems, but it is basically the same game now as it was on release (apart from a few balance tweaks and extra raid content). They both have their knockers, but the knockers are clutching at straws, as seen by the otherwise high ratings on this and many other sites (and their continuing popularity). DDO on the other hand felt like an early beta on release, and after the new patch if you read the DDO official forums, it's even worse! Now the mobs AI doesn't even work.
It isn't the fact that it isn't complete or full of bugs that has turned us away.
We wanted a MMORPG, they gave us a fully instanced piece of shiat, whith no chat system, no craft system, improperly balanced gameplay, that can be completed in 2 weeks. On top of that they shoved Eberon down our collective throat, and it tastes like Shiat.
IMO DDO should have been based on a fast turn based system
This game will succeed because... It just needs time! Every single MMORPG on the market was released with bugs, lags, server crashes, small content and all the other problems you are complaining about. Just give this game more time, because it has a great potential to become one of the best games on the market.
I heard they canned Troop. Word is he was fired. Gee, i wonder why? Maybe because he has furthered gamer's impression that Turbine is incapable of making a good decision? That the game has tanked and is dying fast?
Its too late for DDO, turn out the lights the bad party is over.
BTW, why is DDO even on a site for MMOs? Its as far from an MMO as Tetris.
