I can't take it I NEED my star wars fix!

In 2002 I spent countless hours reading about this new MMO called star wars galaxies.  I played EQ at launch, Dark Age of Camelot, Asherons Call 1/2, Ultima Online, but couldnt stand the fantasy setting.

SWG was the perfect MMO on paper for me.

In 2003 I tried it and fell in love with it.  Unfortunatly school requirements did not allow me to continue playing an MMO.  Now a few years later, I am in an established career and am able to settle back down into an MMO.

I've tried WOW, Guild Wars, Everquest 2 etc and get bored after the 30 day trial.  I know how much teh NGE sucks and how people are bashing it.  I have seen the massive threads about it.

But would it be fun at all to get me through until SWG 2 comes out?

Please help me I am having withdrawals of tatooine!

I would recommend battlefront1/2 for your fix, I don't know that swg would do anything more then make you sad as they are still working on the core mechanics of the new game, if nothing else try and hold out for 4-6 months to see if they can get their act together.

SWG in it's current form is nothing like the game you fell in love with so if you do try it try not to let it get you down .

Seriously, don't pay them any more money. If you must, set up a trial account and play for 10 days free on the tutorial station.

If you go back it will only tell SOE they were right.

Dont do it, i have faith in you to hold out and believe me i understand what you are going through. You must stay strong and keep focus on the problem at hand. Giving money to $oE will just prove their point and not ours. What i did was started playing KoToR 1 and 2, both great games and does the StarWars fix.

Don't do it...  It's all about principle!   Star Wars must be saved from the greedy, greasy hands of SOE, and the only way to do it is to not subscribe!   Don't listen to Darth Smedlious and his apprentice Darth Obraik!  He's a Zabrak and they are not to be trusted!

I was in the same boat, I almost fell off the wagon and went back for a look, but with the help of all the great people here, I can say I'm totally SWG-NGE free for over 5 months now and I feel great!

Once you get over that last urge to go back it all gets better, find all the really great single player games you missed, can get them cheap now and they are a lot more fun to play than the NGE.

Going back to SWG makes baby Jesus cry  You don't want that, do you?

I just wanted to let you know that your not the only one...lol. I recent restarted Knights of The Old Republic [again] and occasionally play Battle Front II , you might try those. Hopefully some positive news will come about regarding some of the SWG rumors or speculations. Until then we all in the same boat looking and hoping for a decent SCIFI MMORPG [be nice if it was something similar to SWG {Pre-CU].

SWG is possibly the worst MMO ever made. I don't see how people can enjoy that game so much. On the other hand, Battlefront 2 is one of the best FPS games released in the past couple years.

Before the CU and NGE SWG was a great game. Did it have issues yes, but if SOE and LA put the time, effort and money into fixing and improving the Pre-CU SWG that they put into the CU and NGE, most of the forums here would be positive and most of us would still be playing the game today.

Don't try to play NGE.  It will be painful.  I haven't watched the holy trilogy in some time.  I used to watch it A LOT.  I'd have it playing WHILE I was playing SWG.  After the NGE, I've watched Ep 4 once.  It's just painful.  Everything in there is a reminder of how SWG was that world.  How I was a part of that world.  It no longer exists.  The NGE has damaged Star Wars for a HUGE SW fan.

I met someone last week who is still playing who has begun being Palpatine to my Anakin.  She's been doing everything in her power to break me down and bring me back to the game.  I'm still struggling, but it's hard.  She played the magic RolePlayers card on me last night and I'm practically feotal to keep myself from reloading the damned game on my machine. 

I feel like I need an intervention.  It's awful.

But I know it's not the same game I loved.  I know I can't do more than RP in it, since the combat style is impossible for me.  Even knowing the suck that it now is, the resisting is difficult.

Somebody call me a wahmbulance.

If you haven't done it in awhile, watch the holy trilogy.  Then look at some NGE screenshots.  That will probably make you not want to play the NGE.

From what I hear, the new combat in MxO is even more broken than the old combat.  I'm also hearing tales of possible memory leak, bugged npcs and other noticable failures that either didn't exist before or are worse than before.  And furthermore, I hear their events, which was the only thing that game had going for it before SOE ate it are now utterly the suck, since they did away with the actual events team.

My god, I almost sound sane again.
