[rant]I just think it's lame. 200 slots for beta testing, and they are going to be chosen from the pool of Auto Assult account holders? Gimme a break.
Seriously, I'm greatly interested in doing the beta testing, but I have absolutely NO DESIRE to play Auto Assault.
It's either that or mail them a post card with your info on it. Who does that anymore? Marketers haven't done the 4 x 5 postcard schtick since the early 90's! No online registration? Come on!
I am now LESS thrilled about T.R. than I was yesterday.[/rant]

yea... that postcard thing is especially stupid if you are living in europe. anyways, im sure since they are already doing a "promotion-beta" it wont be long to wait for the launch.
man, Auto Assault... thats gross! please, see yourself -> Auto Assault® Tabula Rasa™ Beta Contest
The promotion is North America only.
I guess they will have their beta application up within a few months, so we can apply then too.
Don't sweat this too much.
I don't care much for this promo either, but since I've been in AA beta for awhile I had an idea of who to try for more info on this.
My 'lil birdie' said those 200 are just a portion of the early groups into TR's beta.
There should be plenty more opportunities that (I assume) don't involve buying something.
Maybe a silver lining to the cloud, I also heard that very soon they'll be working on strengthening the TR community. New lead CSR, new stuff on the TR main website, etc.
My guess is now that AA is going live it frees up resources for TR's beta. So the ball should start rolling in the next few weeks
We gotta go to a crappy town where I'm a hero.
So, I would say having a promo to get into the closed beta isn't such a big deal at all.

Listen Asmodeeus, seven years ago, Ultima Online didn't even have those pathetic "quests" that you refer to or those "professions" of ninja, samurai, necromancer, and paladin. Nor did it have any of the neon crap, or bug mounts. It didn't even have any "combat moves." You turned on attack and jousted with simplistic swings. It was a better game then. if you can't guess why then just uninstall the thing and move along. - Crabby
Woo Hoo - things are happening.
If the competition closes mid May then that gives them june to run the closed beta, july to fix any problems found, August for an open beta, three months to fix problems and get it out the door for December.
And they can be adding content for the next 8 months. Whilst we read reviews and previews.
If only life had a fast forward button.
Back on topic, it's kinda lame having to subscribe to a game you don't want to play to get into a beta you want to be in, but since I already got an Auto Assault account, I guess I won't suffer too much.

No-one is forcing anyone to subscribe to Auto-Assault to get into a beta for T.R.
Instead people who are playing and subscribing to Auto-Assault are being given a chance (a very small chance) to participate in the beta for T.R. ie they are getting a reward.
I think anyone stupid enough to buy A.A and pay a months subscription in the hope that they will be one of the first 200 people to pay that months subscription and therefore qualify for the beta of T.R deserve to waste their money.
Not really a suprise but kinda funny to pull peopole from one there games to another but .. (shrugs)
No it don't make me want to buy AA on release to do this. Ws in AA beta and didn't care much for it but tested anyway.
Least more info leaking out about release dates at least to what part of what year for opening.
well seeing as the game comes out in october its a hella easy assumption that OBVIOUSLY beta would be 3 weeks befor the game comes out?
gg sir just gg
call me when you havnt been beatin with a newb stick all day
and anyone who crys about aa being bad is obviously a newb who never got past lvl 30
