ASUS Is One of the Only Two Companies to Manufacture the PhysX Accelerator Cards That Delivers Revolutionary Gaming Experience
Taipei, Taiwan; March 22, 2006 – ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (ASUS) , a leading provider of computing, communication, and consumer electronics products, today confirmed that it will be one of the driving forces in creating the worldwide physics accelerator market with the breakthrough AGEIA™ PhysX™ processor. The company will begin distributing this exciting new AGEIA PhysX Accelerator cards in May, 2006. ASUS will be one of the only two companies to manufactur e the card, and will be the sole company making the card in a 256MB configuration.
Partnered since May, 2005, ASUS and AGEIA Technologies, Inc. have been working together to bring a totally new category in PC hardware, the physics accelerator card, to market for avid PC gamers. The new ASUS card is capable of deliver ing a completely new gaming experience with dramatic, pervasive real-time physical motion and interaction that will change gaming forever.
Today, over 60 developers are planning and creating more than 100 games that take advantage of the new physics processor.

Since FE will be using the PhysX processor it is possible that we might be able to go to beta soon after the processor is released!! This is just speculation but would make sense....
I don't think the commerical release of new hardware would have much impact on the development process. It is likely Icarus are already in the process of testing their PhysX integration internally.
The commrcial availabibility doesn't seem to be important either. If I remember correctly there were a number of games that were released compatiable with graphics cards before they were on the market.
It is an optional component and isn't really required for us to
enjoy the game and it's unlikely we will require one for perfroming
public beta testing, so its not a barrier holding back testing.
On the other hand, ensuring that they are the first (online) game to use the technology after it's release could potentially boost their "hype factor" when they choose to implement their marketing strategy. This may encourage Fallen Earth to hasten development. However, in addition to the anti-hype policy I percieve Icarus of currently having, I remember reading somewhere that CoH already have a team working on an expansion pack which will incorporate PhysX...
