I wouldn't go away. The game's not the problem for me. I lost the urge to play SWG a while ago. I'm only here because I'm pissed at the company that did it.

I can't think of anything at this time that would make me go back to the game. But, I think the original reason they had for not making a classic server was, they already had had the experience with Everquest of having to run two versions of the same game, and they found it to be a pain and didn't want to repeat.  I think Smed said this in effect pretty early on in the NGE, mincing his words, of course.

At this time, I think it is a different animal.  It has become a game development company vs player issue and since everyone is watching they can't and won't back down to player pressure.  It opens up too many precedents that even the good gaming companies don't want to see. I'm sure there has always been a fine line walked between what the developers can do and want to do with a game and what an avid player base demands.  In the case of Galaxies, everyone on both sides stepped way too far over the line.

Release the code. Let US run a server or two and STFU.

This really is the only answer.   It should be quite clear by now that the  Vets are not going away, and are not going to quit bashing the two companies at every possible chance until they give us our game back.   This has been a pr nightmare for both companies.  Surely their ready for it to end.

I won't be holding my breath.  I don't feel they will ever do it.  I have personally resigned myself to the fact that the game is gone.  I am now just patiently waiting for Star Trek.
