A few questions from a possible new player

Hi there!

First I'll start with a little background... :P

My first MMO was WoW... I played it for some months until the only thing left to do was grinding... After that I bought Guild Wars... A nice game, but lacks the feeling of a true MMO.

So I've been checking some sites for a new experience. I read that Lineage II is nice, but requires massives amounts of time to go anywhere.
So I came here. But I have some questions...

1. Is it worth it? Is the game still alive and kicking?
2. I'm from Europe (Portugal). Are the European servers well populated?
4. If they're not, can I play on the US servers?
4. Is the game casual firendly? (I'm a bit more than casual, but we'll start like this)
5. I see that I can download the entire game after activating the account. I'm considering this because trying to buy the game here is a quest by itself. The thing is: can I copy the downloaded content to another computer and be able to run it there? (this question comes up because my main computer is not the one I would be downloading the game from).
6. What about the community?
7. Is the game newbie friendly? :P

Sorry about the numbered questions, but's it's easier for me... :P

Thanks in advance for any replies... :)

    1  Yes
    2 Don't really know.  Check out http://daoc.goa.com/en/
    3.  Yes, but you need to buy the US version of the software.  It is the free download trial from this site.  In fact if you want the EU demo, you need to download it from the EU site
4  Yes.  I would suggest that if you hate raids and are really casual about leveling, you start on the "classic" servers.  Both the US and EU have that server type.  A lot less raid content is on those
    5.  Yes.  You are simply purchasing the license that is attached to your account.  You can install the software on as many accounts as you want.  You can even download the software more than once (at least in the US version.)
    6.  Generally good.  It is not as good as it was a few years ago, but still better than any other mmorpg by far.  You might want to avoid the starter guild you are put in because that is usually where you will find the worst members of the community
    7.  Yes.  There are starter quests that give you a full set of nice armor.  It is very easy to solo.  You will need to have the last 2 expansions to experience the best content in the game.  The only issue you might have is that being new you will want to go exploring and it might be hard to find people wanting to explore.  Also, depending on your server there might be more or less people around your level to group with.  This is because most people have been playing for a long time.  This can be a problem for some people.  But if you play on the Classic servers these issues tend to be fewer.

    1. Yes, this is IMO the best MMORPG on the market especially if you like PvP/RvR.  I've played seven MMORPGs and I still come back to DAoC.  I'll probably try my hand at WAR when it comes out but I love DAoC
    2.  I've heard that the European servers are pretty well populated but alot of people that can read and write english prefer to play on North American servers due to getting updates faster and such.
    3.  Yes, as has been posted previously you can get the NA version from DarkAgeOfCamelot.com
    4.  As previously posted the classic servers are rather casual friendly as there are more low level characters running around there than on the "normal" servers.  One thing about this though is for the best beginner experience I would reccomend that you get the Darkness Rising expansion as it will allow you to gain access to the Instance Dungeons in Catacombs.
    5.  See previous post about license applying to account not software.
    6.  The community in DAoC is truly great.  One thing I got alot of when playing WoW was "It's all about me."  DAoC has a more mature player base in general and IMO more well established guilds.
    7.  If you get the Darkness Rising client with Catacombs the game is very newbie friendly.  Mythic took a page from Cryptic's book and actually created an Instanced tutorial that you can start out in, this will get you familiar with the interface and get you started in the world of DAoC.  After you are in the main server you are placed very close to the capital city and all new characters no start out in the same area.  Getting to know the area used to be rather taxing but now with in game maps it is easy to find your way around.

    I hope this helps.

Does your guild have a website yet? Find out how easy it is to get one.
