Saw this mmo, but the information on the homepage sucks. The only thing I get is that you pay RL cash for everything. I miss e.g. a faq. Any1 have any more info? An1 playing it and can say anything good/bad?
I feel bad because no one answered your post. Silkroad Online is by no means a "horrible" game. Its just a bit repetitive and has NO character customization leaving everyone looking basically the same sadly. It runs like many other korean MMOs yet has a very large skill system that can branch out quite a bit. Although if you do not know what you are doing, you could screw yourself over. You got 5 different types of weapons(yes only 5...). its like this
sword and glaive are melee mainly and Blade and Spear are for the magic users . Bows are for both.
Its wierd in the sense that there is no "magic" casted really but your weapons are just imbued with elements. The graphics are decent for a free game and they are certainly nothing you would be horrified with. But the game does get repetitive and boring sadly.
Basically you can be a Hunter, a Theif, or a Trader. Hunters protect the traders who ride camels/horses and deliver goods, while the theif characters try to kill the traders to steal their goods.(PVP based)...Uhm thats really all I can think of saying about the game..
If you have never played an MMO before you will think this game is the best thing since sliced bread, if you've played "Pay toplay" games before though you will most likely not be impressed by it though.

I dont realy agree with you. Ive played Lineage 2, Rose and Ragnarok as pay to play but i still find myself playing silkroad. Most people who say its boring don't reach lvl 20. It's there all the fun begins. I reached there earlier today and me and one other in my clan went for our first trade run. We was protected by some lvl 3x hunters also in my clan. Its a realy fun game if you ask me and the graphics are the second best of all games ive played, next to lineage 2.
The quest system might be boring. I mean killing 500 monster isn't fun. But anyway i think this is a game for most people that are looking for free game. If you think im wrong feel free to post a better one.
The only bad thing with the game is connection. They add new servers like every month but they keep getting overfull, making it imposible to log in. But thats not a reason not to play a game.
The economic is good and its easy to become millionare. On this easter event i earned 400k selling eggs.
So my point is, this is a too good game to miss so try it and tell me if you is dissapoined.
SRO is a "traditional" grinding game with eye candy and a bit pvp.
First, the graphic is great.
I played up to lvl 34 or so(forgot), then the stupid Christmas event messed up things and I was rolled back to lvl 26. Everyone was rolled back. I was already bored of it due to the "Quests" of kill 1000 this, kill 500 that...on the same camping spot repeat on a few same mobs who respawn over and over every 20 sec. SO I quit.
The pvp is mainly done in 2 ways. Players over lvl 20 can pick 3 jobs of Trader, Hunter, Thief. Traders make easy money by trading between cities, thieves can jack traders' goods if they can kill traders, and sel for profit at thief city blackmarket. Hunters can hunt down thieves...if they can win.
But the fact of losing goods = losing lots of money and time made most traders go for only 1 star trading(5 star total), 1 star is the lowest lvl of trading with lowest profit but can NOT be attacked by player thieves.
You can see 95%+ player traders are all doing 1 star, if you play thief, you will have no target. Most of the remaining 5% traders are doing in big groups with large groups of hunters as bodyguards. So you won't be able to beat them alone anyway.
(any player can switch job any time with a reuse time of 10 min.)
My conclusion for the pvp from 3 jobs is, rarely happen.
The second type of pvp is - clan war. It is ok, and I had fought in 1 before I was rolled back and quit. Not that great compare to Lineage2's clan war/pvp. But the positive part is, clan war deaths in SRO lose really tiny xp, so you can die many many times a day without much set back.
Anyway, nothing covers the fact the mindless grinding fest will take over 95%+ of your playing time.
The biggest turn off in this game for me is having to mouse click to move everywhere. Like shadowbane. Since the last few mmo's I played use WASD keys (wow, daoc etc.) I got use to that and don't think I can go back.
The game seems alright for a free game but I still don't see any reason to play it.

I play now and im only like 26. I would say that this is a pretty good game if you have the time to sit down and play for a bit to hit the next level. This game will take a ton of patience because there are tons of people playing and not enough servers, so the servers are full a lot, there is also a lot of lag if you get on in the mid-day, so i suggest getting on and night preferably. The PvP system is not also the best, the Caravan System (Theifs kill traders, hunters protect traders, traders trade goods from city to city) is a cool twist that i've never seen before in a free MMORPG. Also, when you hit level 20 you can do something called "murder" where u can kill another player by force, but there is no point to this because of the huge toll that your character takes when you murder someone. The graphics are also very good compared to many other free games.
P.S. If you want to know some more about the game feel free to send me a P.M with a question and i'll answer it for you as fast as i can
Oh, wait, here's a good website if you want some FAQ's or some more info on the game http://www.silkroadtavern.com/forums/index.php?act=portal , you will need to make an account but i think it's worth it if you start playing because it shows quest guides for every level.
