Yes, you do have to pay.  Last I checked it was 12.95 US a month.  When you purchase the game you get a month included with your purchase.

whoa talk about digging up a 2 year old post.....

there is a FFXI section now... go discuss there...

the game is fun if you got alot of time, but if you don't it can be very hard without a good group of friends who play with you as it can take hrs to get a group and the game has very limited soloing capabilitys.

It ain't no EQ... its completely differant.. its the best aspects of FF games thrown into an MMORPG, and its there first mmorpg.

I enjoy playing it, but don't have enough time to play it effectivly atm... but i am lucky to have a good LS who are willing to PL me every now and then to get me up to scratch so i can play with them....

they got there work cut out for them now tho.. I had a 2 month period where I was so busy i didn't have any time to play lol.
