And if you want to include Ichi, then we have to also include Asami from Ôdishon (Audition).
Remember, that is responsible for one of the most disturbing torture scenes in film.

OMG! Audition was GREAT! kiri kiri kiri kiri kiri kiri!

have you seen A Tale of Two Sisters? i freakin' couldn't watch it on my own. seriously. there's one scene that just had me pulling off my headphones and covering my eyes. and i don't normally cover my eyes! actually... i only cover my eyes when i watch an Asian horror movie (some). they seem to affect me more than any others. but yes... it was just this ONE scene in A Tale of Two Sisters that just freaked me right out.

I surprised a bunch of my friends with A Tale of Two Sisters at a "Margarita Movie Night"... funniest reactions I've ever seen. Drunk people and horror are fun!

Different things scare different people, its why there's such diversity in this topic as to favourite horror villains/characters. Some Asian films creep me out, but its difficult to scare me on the whole. Ringu was awesome, Audition freaked me out, Uzumaki was just weird, and the opening scene in Suicide Circle ranks as one of the most f*cked up and disturbing things I've seen in a long time. (Bunch of Japanese school girls happily holding hands in a subway station, all count to three then, giggling, jump en mass onto the tracks as a train speeds by... body parts a go-go)

The closest film to ever scare me were silent films. Nosferatu was a favourite and holds a prime spot in my collection. Count Orlok has always been a favourite. I'm more partial to psychological horror though.

And I don't care what the books say, I refuse to believe Sadako had both kinds of genitalia!! After meeting the actress (Sadako from Ringu 0) give me some dignity!

i love old horror... especially The Changeling and The Haunting. newer horror seems to lose the "feel" that older movies had.

    Yeah

Wes craven is one hell of a genius......... A nightmare on elm street 1 holds a special place in my heart but then again... had the other directors not continued the series I would never have heard about him for FvJ is the one that told me about freddy..

For all you Jason luvers he would never have won if whatstheir names hadnt intercepted

    (that wink means sumthing though)

"that wink means sumthing though" Yeah, that even Freddy knew he should have stopped after the third Nightmare film. And the main reason Jason never speaks in any of the films is that then he would be expected to explain (and be held accountable for) the existence of all the Friday movies after Ft13th: 2.

Here's some food for though for all us horror fans. On IMDB.com there is only ONE film in the top 25 horror films from 2000 or later. All the others are pre-1990. In the top 50 there are only 6 films made from 1990 onward. While I don't entirely agree with the top 50 list (there are a few newer films I think deserve to be there) that should say something about the quality of films scaring people. Or not scaring people. FvJ is a prime example and it causes me physical pain to see there's going to be a sequel. (not as much as them remaking the original Friday the 13th though)

Imdb.com's top 50 horror films as rated by fans: Here

Personally I felt Calvaire and Haute Tension deserve to be on the top 50. At least in the 26-50 range.
