What a pvp game comes down to nowadays is always the same, a pissing contest about who is the best and who has the most time to equip their characters the best way and how to roll up the best flavour of the patch template. Number crunching for 'mostly' unsociable people. I used to be a die hard PvPer when I was younger, didn't have a good job that I want to keep and spent most of my non-party times playing mmorpgs. UO PvP was fun, how people cried, made OSI implement Trammel, game died... EQ Zeks was biggest PvP joke ever, the game wasn't designed with PvP in mind, AC1 Darktide was fantastic, played there from day 1 and for 2 years, but PvP was ruined by ice-skating queens (gear anyone?) and other exploits, which Turbine never cared to punish people for until after it was too late, AO was ok but too much grinding to get to a decent level to actually participate in the PvP, same for DAoC, where you also realised that PvP is just another grinding treadmill to get mor Realmpoints and RvR Rank, for what? Shadowbane was nice again, build your own cities, risk losing them in war, but we all know what happened to Shadowbane, Eve is ok too, but to do proper PvP there you either have to be an anti-social single person who like to camp some spots waiting for newbs all day or spend all of your life in a huge corp, let your dog and children starve, mine so much that you wish you had bought a goldfish instead of the game, etc. :) There are much more fun ways to PvP outside of MMORPGs, play some poker with friends!

Best description of MMO PvP I think I have ever read, well done.
