How is combat done?

yellowdeathyellowdeath Member Posts: 9

I'm a big fan of real time combat, not point click and watch. Ive seen videos of gameplay but i cant tell what type of combat this game uses. Is it click on some one to target.... then click on them to attack? or Do I have to click sucessive to attack them? Im talking about real combat like RYL or Rakion etc, if any game is possible to compare this games combat to, please list. And yea sorry for the kinda, non sensical literature.   And when comparing you can say the game name, because Ive played pretty much every MMO on the market.       ** is the combat anything like DDO's?

I think you mean Twitch based combat, no, Guild Wars doesn't have it.
Guild Wars uses a very fast version of the classic system. its works really great, you still have autoattack but you constantly be using diffrent skills all the time, and autoattack is much less used (some classes don't use it at all!) tough this gets kind of repetive and tiring in PvE after a while, it works great in pvp.

Only begginers use the auto attack system, the experienced players play more FPS style.

    It's kinda like Diablo II.

VS mosters it is mostly point and click.

VS real players it can pay to move around using the keyboard a lot more.  AKA if warrior keeps trying to auto attack you can can strafe them for a while to cause them to lose attacks.   Everytime you move out of range they have to click attack again.

there are keys to select target , C selects the most near target , TAB makes selection circle from enemy to enemy , and there are a few more keys like this , and the most important is calling targets for people of your team atack the same target fast , that can be done diferent ways also , you can clic with mouse on enemy ( useless waste of time ) , TAB and C is the faster way to select imo , then you press CTRL and SPACE to atack , or CTRL and a skill ... skills can also be used with mouse clicing on them in skills bar , or with numbers on keyboard. 1 to 8 , skills is the only thing i use mouse to aply , but ive seen many people useing numbers on keyboard . i clic with mouse becose i like to not take my fingers out of AWDS keys , always moving around the char and the camara view.

i can tell its really exciting .. it doesnt require the same kind of reflex as a FPS but is not very far from  that.

combining your skills with your team mates skills is where the power is.

You can do both...I personally do both but it depends on what. For instance when I do mindless warrior or Invinci farming  I  just use the auto-targets and press skills every now and then killing stuff and picking up money.

In PvP or missions I watch each skill carefully and set up combos or whatever. I would say you can use both because they can come in handy in different situations.
