    This reminds me of the time I was walking around the streets of Tokyo, and the young Japanese punks were dressed and had haircuts like Elvis Presley.  I was afraid to laugh, I might get ninja-chopped.  The Elviis Haircut punk look is a 30 year lag behind American culture.

    Basically the foreigners are all envious of American culture, they lag behind, considerably sometimes.

    My god, this is so sad. We can't even have a simple discussion about a time travelling, tea sipping, British gentlemen. Instead everyone jumps to who is the superpower.

    And I don't think many in this thread realize that there was an old BBC Dr. Who series (which was campy but funny because of it) and a NEW Dr. Who that is just hideously crappity. Since the old Dr Who never mentioned the internet, I would venture a guess that the OP is referring to the new show, which again is absolute crap.

    just read some of the thread, yea it's very much the 'done' thing to hate americans in britain. mainly because all we see of america are obese, idiotic lumps on shows such as ricky lake and judge judy rofl.

    i know not all americans are like that, but these shows reaaaaaaaally really do nothing to improve respect ratings for the US here in the UK.

    I'd start talking about quality of life and loads of other crap, but I advise every american to check this list, and then compare themselves towards europeans again:

    I agree, she is just as hot as some of those stick insect/model types.

    Dr Who is a cult thing, or was, it has a new writer now (started last series) and his style is to make it a bit lighter than it used to be.

    When Dr Who was more science fictiony it was actually quite scary for it's time, the Darleks especially, or so I thought

    Guys, try not to take this seriously, the OP started this thread because he's a well known troll on these forums and creates threads like these and makes inflamatory comments because well. Who knows, probably some underlying mental condition, that being said, your just feeding the troll, and certainly dont take his view to represent Americans.

    Look at the title of the thread.  Look at the post he made.  He does stuff like this all the time. 

    I'm surprised he couldn't find someway to correlate watching Dr. Who with socialism.  And I'm sure not being able to frustrated him to no end.

    Lost, Prisonbreak, 24, Desperate Housewifes and so on are all just as popular here as in the USA. Many are aired at the same time or 1-2 weeks later than in the states. I hardly find that miles behind USA.

    There was a big tv expo here in Europe not long ago, where all the major american series where offered. Basicly all where sold. So the Tv horizon looks pretty similar to the one in USA. There isn't much difference between USA and Europe anymore. We watch the same Tv (Talking about series, movies. Not news), we wear the same cloths, we listen to the same music and we eat similar food. It's more the political ideas, peoples attitude and the "world view" that is different. Europe is still leading in the classic culture I think though. Since we have a very strong tradition of it.
    I wouldnt say classic, I'd say lagging behind a couple decades.

    i think europe is just sort of resentful they arent the worlds superpowers anymore.

    because historically europeans have been the most powerful nations.

    now its the US, China, Japan, and the miscellaneous arab countries, North Korea(not a superpower but more of a threat).

    europe has in a way lost its importance, and that is why i think their is a lot of anti american feelings in europe.
