Stuck at character name verification?

After a lot of trouble getting the client to actually start up, I got to create a character, but then when I click next it just says "Character Name Accepted.... Creating Player..." and just sits there... forever. 

Has anyone experienced this, or know the solution to it?

Character creation on Unity, the european server, is currently broken. And has been for a month. We aren't told why, or when, or even IF it will be fixed.
In fact, EU-provider Games Network completely stopped player communication and support in late 2005.

Most of the few players left in europe feel like GN is trying to starve us out. Rumours have it that the contract between Tulga Games and GN will be running out in May. Nobody knows what will happen then.

The only sound advice I can give if you want to play hz: If you have a credit card or debit card, choose a North American shard. If not, watch the developments of the EU shard before you even consider subscribing to a trial since you are not able to create a character on Unity.

Yeah, make a character on Chaos. The future of Unity is uncertain. You didn't used to be able to play on the NA servers with an EU account, but you can now even with a real EU address.
