The Wait, The Game

Patience is a virtue.

I for one would much rather they took their time and did it right rather than push it out early and risk it flopping. I have faith they will come through when they are ready.

I'm sure they will have fresh servers for those who would rather start in an unsculpted world.

If you don't like someones city or buisness, nothing is stopping you from gathering your guild and wiping them out.

If you permanently die, you get a 2nd chance to come back via the death realm the outcome of which is entirely up to you.

Concerning preordering, the item you receive is but a small perk. It's supposed to advance as you grow just so it doesn't become completely obsolete with a couple levels but it doesn't mean you won't find something better along the way.

And what the hell is $20.00 for a free month + continued discount for months to come when you'd spend over double that on another games box set + have to pay for it monthly. With the MMOcenter you will never have to purchase a box set from a store and you'll have access to all their titles.

You have to remember the company is new and much smaller than the commercial giants kingpinning the industry with their trash mmo's like Blizzard with WoW, so give them some time. Let them do it right without adding your flames to potentially hurt their eventual release. It's not like they're not trying.

I'm a unique and beautiful snowflake.

Yeah right, this game is dead.

oh....blah blah blah blah blah when is it coming blah blah blah dead game blah blah

    that's all forum trolls do....

probably cause they don't have lives...

Personally....there is more to my life than waiting on games...therfore...waiting for this game and all other games is just a minor detail.  I enjoy them whenever they come out.  I hope The Chronicle comes out some day or some other company steals some of their innovative concepts and puts out their own MMORPG...either way....I have plenty of games to keep me entertained right now...and I will enjoy TC and others whenever they do come out... cheers

You know, Jorev, instead of trash talking this game, which you obviously don't know jack about, why don't you go visit them for their tour, then come back and drop your two cents. When their game finally goes beta and rules ass, I'm gonna come back to this forum just to laugh at you.

I'm a unique and beautiful snowflake.

  • fulmanfufulmanfu Member Posts: 1,523

i think jorev is 100% right. i however DO know jack about the game, followed it since last august or so and was probably one of the first 20 to preorder(im sure my hat is in the mail lol)
but yeah, game is r.i.p. and even if its not by the time they get this 'rapidly made' game to a near beta state your looking at big time games coming out, spellborn and vanguard will be out already, tabula rasa close hell even warhammer will probably be in beta before this little 'company' run by a 17 year old

For people that are positive that this year old game is dead, you sure seem to hang around this forum a lot. When it's coming out is debatable, but if you don't think they're still developing the game, go visit their studio. They've been doing tours and letting people run around in the game.

And, Christ, do you even know what "dead" means? At least the other trolls have had enough sense to call it a scam or say that it'll eventually die. But if they're still working on it and they're still releasing information about it, it's not dead. You could argue that it might not be released, you'd still be an idiot, but at least that's an opinion and we wouldn't be able to prove you wrong yet.

I hope the people that preordered this game are earning interest on their money.

It's really unprofessional to collect money for a product that doesn't meet a scheduled release date.

...Seriously? You don't think an MMO has ever had a delay? And it's a 6 month delay at that. Do you people not play MMOs? Ever? I don't even remember the last game to come out on time. And half of the time they come out a year or two late and are unplayable the first couple months because they rushed it out the door so they could start trying to pay off the massive amount of money it  takes to make an MMO.

And again, they've never officially set a date. We pre-ordered with the official release date being "when it's ready". They've been very, very clear about this. If you pre-ordered thinking they had set an absolute deadline or if you think changing engines doesn't justify a six month delay, you deserve to have your money taken from you.

I will be going on a tour of the studio this coming friday with Xavius (one of the leaders of our guild) I doubt they would let us come checkout the place and play the game if it were "dead" that doesnt make much sense does it? All you people need to quit complaining and either forget about the game if you cant handle waiting, or just chill out and do something else with your time until it does come out.

BTW we get to BBQ while were there. They must really love us <3

"I for one would much rather they took their time and did it right rather than push it out early"

LMAO.  What an original and spontaneous statement.  I have never seen anybody type that before about this game or any other failing MMORPG.  Thank you SO MUCH for your input.

It might be a little more believable if you had posted a few times before this thread.  Do you still get paid if your posts don't work?

Shit! They're on to us! Scatter!

We had 'em going there for awhile there, with that whole "I'd rather they finish the game and not just throw out a buggy, incomplete mess in an effort to bring in some money before the game bankrupts them" thing. Ah, damn.

Well, now that they figured us out, I'm off to play some SWG. I hear they're workin' on that bug where anytime you sit down, you slide four feet in front of the chair and just kinda squat in the middle of a the air. Ya know, that one from beta.... In 2003.

  • FergRedbeardFergRedbeard Member Posts: 69

Well....I personally don't like the "pre-order" option for any game......

    But gotta love blanket statements...

So....any company who allows pre-ordering but then has to delay is unprofessional?

Interesting....I remember shelling out cash for that little game by that little company...what was it called....Ice Storm...Snow Storm...oh wait...I remember Blizzard....and World of Warcrack....

oh yeah...those people are soooo unprofessional!

    RE: To Forum Troll #172

If you're implying that I work for RR you are quite wrong. I'm just another hardcore gamer waiting for someone to do an mmo right. Honestly I could care if its the Chronicle or another as long as it's fantasy and I have the ability to be unique in almost every aspect. I believe the Chronicle will come through, how well we'll have to see, but I am hoping it's the one.

Please Infra172, help me understand why people like you and Jorev choose to waste your precious time lurking in these forums, bashing whatever you can, when you obviously think its a dead game? Why do you even follow our conversations concerning this game? It is really quite pathetic and I must say I pity you guys with nothing else better to do than waste your time ruining other peoples hopes and conversations.

Try this, find a forum for an upcoming game that you actually might like and post something constructive. Maybe start a topic you could actually enjoy.

I'm a unique and beautiful snowflake.

    "I'm just another hardcore gamer"

Seriously, stop.  You are not fooling anybody.  Nobody calls themselves a "hardcore gamer".  I can almost hear you saying "what the devil do these youngsters call themselves these days?"

Oh, snap! You got served! lolz...

That was clever, infra172. Moving the focus to the phrases ELE3551 uses, instead of explaining why you're still here.

And everyone still uses the phrase "hardcore gamer", ya noob.

sorry to burst your bubble but i preordered when the release date was LAST FALL, not only the chronicle going live by then but machines too :) don't say it if its not true, thx. In fact not only was i led to believe chronicle and machines would be live by LAST FALL, new games were promisee every 3 to 6 months after so ...

yeah 4 games 'should' be live by now, as far as they being 'very, very clear' about 'when its ready' date, yeah..thats true..after about 4 missed dates. once again sorry to burst your bubble but its about the 8th time i have had to correct some fanboi's false claims like this

If you're going by the MMORPG.com article that says "MMOCenter.com promises two, possibly three titles to enter beta this fall: The Chronicle, Machines and Survival Instinct", I'm going to have to point out that... it was a MMORPG.com article. That, and every other release date that MMO sites have posted, were just guesses. There's a reason no one is quoted in any of the articles. MMOCenter.com has not set a release date for any of it's games.

    November 7, 2005 (http://tc.mmodb.net/qanda.php?p=november7):

"Q: The big thing thing on people's minds is: 'When will the beta start?'. Perhaps you could give us an estimate or even a hint?"

CG: ...In the words of one of my personal favorite game designers: 'When it's done'."

EDIT: Nevermind. Found a post by the old CM: "Our release date is still scheduled and on target for the end of the year".

Hmm... I wonder why CG replaced him.

We’re blitzing into the market this fall with not one, but two complete MMORPGs. You can check out The Chronicle website and teaser right now at www.thechroniclemmo.com, and Machines tomorrow, June 11th.

The Chronicle and Machines go live this fall (2005), so the waiting is almost over! The other games, and even more that are currently in development, will go live every three to six months later.

We look forward to seeing you in our games! The Rapid Reality Team

Why am I here?  So that people won't preorder this game without knowing that its probably not coming out.  I give a damn about other people.  You should try it sometime.

You are basing that opinion on nothing other than delays...which are nothing new in this industry. I'm not saying the game is or isn't going to be released. I just think it's a bit early to start crying vapor.

FYI.....the pre-order option was discontinued couple months ago....

I just don't want you to worry yourself into an early grave about people pre-ordering...especially when they can't do it anymore....that would be bad...

      cheers

I know for my self, and I think most who are criticle of RR, it has nothing to do with the game being "ready" or not. My critisim stems from how poorly they have handled the the development process, and their inability to communicate with their fan base in anyway that allows the majority of them to have any confidence in RR's ability
  • BissrokBissrok Member Posts: 1,002
I think most people are assuming that the developers MUST show you screenshots and video, they should throw out any ideas they have along the way. And, I think a lot of people are assuming that they have no reason not to. They're just doing it to be mean. And, if not, then the game must be vaporware.

This is SOE, this isn't Blizzard. They're a small company with money, trying to make games that are fun. So, there's nothing we can compare this to.

That's so not true remy...I have followed enough of your posts to know that you know there is more then "just" delays to suggest that RR is way over their heads. There have been delays, dishonesty, unprofessionalism and poor decisions to lead one to think that this game may not see the light of day.

I'm not claiming it won't comeout, but I certainly agree that at this point RR has done more to substantiate the veiw that TC is going to be vaporware then it is going to be worth playing.

i agree bis most people are just impatient about getting inf, but there have also been a lot of people who have pointed out as I have that beyond just "delaying" the game, how things have been handled has shown some real ineptness and misrepresentation on RR's part.
